Raghunandan Srinivas Kamath, the founder of Naturals Ice Cream, passed away.
Born to a mango vendor in a village in Mangaluru, Kamath went on to establish Naturals, an ice cream parlour estimated to be worth Rs 400 crore today, becoming a well-known figure in the industry and an inspiration to many.
His first ice cream parlour was launched in 1984 in Juhu, with the initial menu featuring around 12 flavours, each being a testament to the knowledge he acquired during the time he assisted his father in Mangaluru.
Alice Stewart, CNN Political Commentator and Veteran Political Adviser, Dies
Alice Stewart, a CNN political commentator and veteran political adviser who worked on a number of GOP presidential campaigns, died at age 58.
Stewart was born on March 11, 1966, in Atlanta, and began her career as a local reporter in Georgia before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas to be a news anchor. She went on to serve as the communications director in then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's office. She assumed similar roles during Huckabee's presidential run in 2008 and served as communications director for the 2012 presidential bids of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and then former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. Most recently, Stewart was the communications director for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's 2016 campaign.

Former Tech Mahindra Vice Chairman Vineet Nayyar Passes Away
Vineet Nayyar, the former Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra, passed away at the age of 85.
Nayyar has led several organisations across industries creating high-performing teams and successful businesses. He had a rich and varied experience having worked with the government, international multilateral agencies and the corporate sector both public and private in a career that spans over 40 years
Nayyar started his career with the Indian Administrative Service. While in the government, he held series of senior positions, including that of a District Magistrate, Secretary Agriculture & Rural development for the Government of Haryana and Director, Department Of Economic Affairs, Government of India.
Nayyar worked with the World Bank for over 10 years in a series of senior assignments, including successively being the Chief for the Energy, Infrastructure and the Finance Divisions for East Asia and Pacific.
Hindi writer Malti Joshi Dies
Renowned Hindi writer and Padma Shri recipient Malti Joshi died. She was 90.
Popularly known as 'Malwa ki Meera', Joshi was awarded the Padma Shri by the then President Ramnath Kovind in 2018.
More than 60 books in Hindi and Marathi languages have been written by her.
Some of her most popular works include 'Madhayantar', 'Pataakshep', 'Parajay', 'Ek Ghar Sapno Ka', 'Woh Tera Ghar, Ye Mera Ghar', and her novel 'Aurat Ek Raat Hai'.

Savannah Gankiewicz Crowned Miss USA after Previous Winner Suddenly Resigned
Savannah Gankiewicz from Hawaii was crowned Miss USA 2023, more than a week after previous title holder resigned citing her mental health. As per reports, she was originally placed as the first runner-up at the 2023 pageant. Ms Gankiewicz will hold the title till August this year (2024), the remainder of the pageant's term.
The Hawaiian has taken over the title from Noelia Voigt, who resigned on May 6.
Voigt, a former Miss Utah, was crowned in September 2023.
Print Media Veteran Naresh Mohan Dies
Distinguished media veteran and former President of Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Naresh Mohan passed away. He was 82.
He also served as Executive President at Hindustan Times, Chairman at United News of India and as member of the Press Council of India.
Founded in 1939, INS acts as the central organisation for newspapers in India, and plays a major role in protecting and promoting freedom of the press in the country.
Mohan served as the president of INS from 1990 to 1991, when he was associated with the Hindustan Times as its executive president. Formerly, he was also the member of The Tribune Trust.

Kashmiri Techie Makes it to NASA's 'Hall of Fame'
A techie from Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir entered NASA's 'Hall of fame' after he identified data breach vulnerabilities in their system. Muneeb Amin Bhat, a cybersecurity researcher, earned the reward along with making it to Apple's Hall of Fame' in 2023 as well after reporting vulnerabilities in their system.
Hailing from Zungalpora village in South Kashmir's Kulgam, Muneeb reported his findings under NASA's Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP), which facilitates the US agency's awareness of otherwise unknown vulnerabilities.
Kamla Beniwal, Former Gujarat Governor, Passes Away
Veteran Congress leader and former Governor of Gujarat Kamla Beniwal died at the age of 97.
Apart from Gujarat, she also served as Governor of Tripura and Mizoram.
A seven-time MLA, Beniwal also remained the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, apart from holding other positions in the state government and the Congress party.

Alice Munro, Canadian Nobel Prize-winning Author Passes Away
Nobel Prize-winning Canadian writer Alice Munro, whose exquisitely crafted tales of the loves, ambitions and travails of small-town women in her native land made her a globally acclaimed master of the short story, has died at the age of 92.
Munro published more than a dozen collections of short stories and was honoured with the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013.
