India-Bangladesh mutual fishermen release aids humanitarian concerns

Assam Launches Sainik Tujhe Salaam for Veterans

Milind Sathe Appointed Maharashtra Advocate General

Amit Shah, Gujarat CM Patel Inaugurates Earth Summit 2025-26 in Gandhinagar

  • The Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in December 2025, inaugurated the 2nd edition of two-day "Earth Summit 2025-26" at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar and also launched more than 13 new services and products under the 'Sahakar Sarathi' initiative. The new offerings include Digi KCC, Campaign Sarathi, Website Sarathi, Cooperative Governance Index, ePACS, the World's Largest Grain Storage Application, Shiksha Sarathi and Sarathi Technology Forum.
  • The summit is jointly organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). On this occasion, the Union Cooperation Minister and the Chief Minister also visited various stalls at the event. Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, State Agriculture and Cooperation Minister Jitu Vaghani, and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Jethabhai Ahir graced the event.

Karnataka Introduces e-Swathu 2.0 for Rural Property Digitalisation

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has launched the upgraded e-Swathu 2.0, a digital platform aimed at regularising rural properties in Karnataka. The system is expected to generate up to Rs 2,000 crore in revenue by bringing 95 lakh properties in gram panchayats under the tax net.

Lok Sabha Passes Health & National Security Cess Bill

  • The Lok Sabha has passed the Health Security se National Security Cess Bill, 2025. The bill is aimed to augment funding for health and national security with the imposition of cess on production of goods such as pan masala and any other goods that may be notified by the central government. Proceeds from the cess will be used for expenditure towards public health and national security.
  • Replying to a debate on the Bill, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, the government wants to deter the use of demerit goods. She said collected cess will be spent on public health and also on strengthening defence ecosystems. She said, public health is a state subject, while defence is the responsibility of the Centre. She stressed on the need to raise more resources to modernize the defence forces to deal with the evolving challenges. 

Tamil Nadu Adds Five New Products to Its GI Portfolio, Taking Total to 74

  • Five distinctive products from Tamil Nadu have been awarded the Geographical Indications (GI) tag, showcasing the State's rich heritage in traditional crafts, agricultural varieties, and artisanal skills. The newly recognised products include:
    - Woraiyur cotton sari
    - Kavindapadi nattu sakkarai (traditional jaggery powder)
    - Namakkal soapstone cookware (makkal pathirangal)
    - Thooyamalli rice (a traditional rice variety)
    - Ambasamudram choppu saman (wooden toys)
  • With this recognition, Tamil Nadu now possesses 74 GI-tagged products, strengthening its position as a leading contributor to India's cultural and craft diversity.

India Launches GIRG to Strengthen Its Global Rankings and Performance

  • The Indian government has announced a major initiative to compare the country's performance with 26 global indices. This effort aims to identify areas where India can improve and strengthen its position in international rankings. The announcement was made by Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh, in Parliament on Monday.
  • This initiative is part of the Global Indices for Reforms and Growth (GIRG) platform. GIRG is designed to use international comparisons to guide policy changes, improve governance, and enhance India's statistical and data-reporting systems.
