Shami becomes India's leading wicket taker in World Cup history

Mohammed Shami created history with his match-winning five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka at the ODI World Cup.
Overtaking bowling icons Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath, pace ace Shami became the leading wicket-taker for India at the ODI World Cup.
He surpassedJavagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan's joint record, both of who have 44 wickets to their names.
He has taken 14 wickets so far in just three matches in world cup 2023.

Lionel Messi wins eighth Ballon d'Or 2023

Argentina captain Lionel Messi won a record eighth Ballon d'Or for the best player in the world beating Norway's UEFA player of the year and treble winner Erling Haaland of Manchester City to the prestigious prize.
Spain's Women's World Cup winner and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati won the women's Ballon d'Or.
Earlier, Messi's World Cup-winning team mate Emiliano Martinez won the Lev Yashin award for the world's best goalkeeper.

Sachin Tendulkar gets immortalized inside Wankhede stadium as statue unveiled

Sachin Tendulkar was immortalized inside his home ground, the Wankhede stadium, on November 1 as his statue was unveiled at a grand function in Mumbai. Many dignitaries were present at the event to see the cricket legend's statue get unveiled close to the Sachin Tendulkar stand.
The statue was initially planned to be unveiled earlier in the year, on the occasion of Tendulkar's 50th birthday in April. However, since there were a few finishing touches that needed to be added to the structure and hence, the unveiling was pushed back.

Max Verstappen split the Ferrari front row of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to snatch the lead of the Formula One Mexico City Grand Prix 2023 by the first corner,
He drove off to his record 16th victory of the season.
Red Bull's three-time season champion collected his third consecutive win at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and broke his own season victories record set last year.
Verstappen started from third and won from the same spot as he did in 2021.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the gold medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event 2023 at the Asian Shooting Championship 2023.
Tomar's impressive score of 463.5 in the final secured the top spot, making him the most successful Indian shooter at the event.

Indian women beat Japan 2-1, assure semifinal berth in Asian Champions Trophy

India had earlier defeated Thailand 7-1 in their opener before getting the better of Malaysia and China 5-0 and 2-1 respectively. The Japanese too were undefeated coming into the match, having registered wins over Malaysia 3-0, South Korea 4-0 and Thailand 4-0 respectively.
An in-form India eked out a narrow 2-1 win over Japan to register their fourth straight win and storm into the semifinals of the women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament here on Tuesday. After two goalless quarters, Navneet Kaur (31st minute) and Sangita Kumari (47th) scored for India, while Japan's lone goal came from the stick of Kana Urata (37th).

Zahid Hussain Clinches Silver at Asian Shooting Championship

Hailing from Anantnag, Kashmir, Zahid Hussain achieved a remarkable feat by securing the silver medal at the prestigious Asian Shooting Championship held in South Korea. His remarkable performance not only brought joy to his hometown but also marked a significant step towards representing his nation at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Zahid Hussain secured the runner-up position in the men's 50M rifle prone event with a total score of 624.5 points. He finished just 1.1 points behind the gold medalist, Kazakhstan's Malinovskiy Konstantin, who scored 625.6 points. China's Du Linshu claimed the third spot with a total of 624.3 points.
The Asian Shooting Championships in 2023 hold immense significance as they serve as a qualifying event for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. This event offers a total of 24 Olympic quotas, with the top two finishers from each country in the 12 Olympic shooting events securing spots for their national teams.

Kashmir Hosts 67th National School Games

With peace returning to the Kashmir Valley, the Jammu and Kashmir government has been hosting several national and international events in various districts of the Union Territory. Adding another feather to the cap, Srinagar is hosting the 67th National School Games with football and volleyball as the two primary sports.
Around 2000 athletes from all over the country are participating in the mega sporting event. With 28 states, eight union territories, and several SGFI-recognised boards participating, this event truly represents the diversity and inclusivity of India's sporting landscape.
There are two main sports that we are hosting, volleyball and football. For volleyball, it's under-17 while for football it's under-19 age groups for boys.

National Games: Jyothi Yarraji Clinches 100m Hurdles Gold in Record Time

Hangzhou Asian Games silver medallist Jyothi Yarraji and Tejas Shirse smashed the National Games records on way to winning gold medals in 100m and 110m hurdles in athletics competitions.
At the 37^th National Games in Goa, Jyothi finished the race in 13.22s and improved upon her own mark, while Tejas, who had clocked 13.80s rewrote the Games record, improved his timing further by winning the final in 13.71s.

Lionel Messi Receives Ballon d'Or Title for Eighth Time

Argentina captain Lionel Messi won a record-extending eighth Ballon d'Or for the best player in the world, beating Norway's UEFA Player of the Year and treble winner Erling Haaland of Manchester City to the prestigious prize.
Messi became the first MLS-based player to claim the coveted prize, although the triumph comes largely on the back of his exploits with his country in Qatar. Former Manchester United player and Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham handed his prize-signing Messi the award in Paris.
Prior to Messi receiving his award, Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmatí won the Ballon d'Or Féminin after a record-breaking year with club and country. She helped Barça win Liga F and the Champions League last season, before leading Spain to World Cup glory in the summer.
The Ballon d'Or is an annual football award presented by French news magazine France Football since 1956. Between 2010 and 2015, in an agreement with FIFA, the award was temporarily merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year (founded in 1991) and known as the FIFA Ballon d'Or. That partnership ended in 2016, and the award reverted to the Ballon d'Or, while FIFA also reverted to its own separate annual award The Best FIFA Men's Player.

Shooter Anish Bhanwala Wins Bronze and India's 12th Paris Olympics Quota Place

Anish Bhanwala rose above the Chinese and won the bronze medal and the Olympic quota in 25-metre rapid fire pistol in the Asian shooting championship in Changwon, Korea.
Anish qualified strong with 588, and eventually missed out on a chance for a better medal as he lost the shoot-off against the eventual silver medallist Dai Yoshioka of Japan.
