Prakash Man Singh Raut is Nepal's New Chief Justice
Nepal's President Ramchandra Paudel appointed Prakash Man Singh Raut as the new Chief Justice of the country. Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chief Justice Raut at a special ceremony organised at Sheetal Niwas, the President's Office.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire and Chairman of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal.
Raut received a unanimous endorsement from the parliamentary hearing committee during a meeting on October 2.
His appointment aligns with Article 129, Clause 2 of the Constitution of Nepal.

Justice Manmohan Sworn in as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court
Justice Manmohan took oath as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.
Oath was administered to Justice Manmohan by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena at the Raj Niwas.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. Others present were the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Ram Niwas Goel; Leader of the Opposition, judges of the Delhi High Court, Principal District and Sessions Judges of Delhi District Courts, the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court, Chief Secretary of the Government of Delhi and the Commissioner of Police.
Earlier he was serving as Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.

Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar Sworn In As Chief Justice of Kerala High Court
Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram.
The oath of office was administered by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was also present during the swearing in ceremony.
Justice Jamdar was appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court on January 23, 2012. He is a legal luminary in administrative and constitutional law and played a pivotal role in computerising the Bombay High Court and championed digitization. He is also passionate about natural history and photography.

SC Collegium Recommends Andhra HC Judge as CJ of Uttarakhand HC
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended appointment of Justice Narendar G, currently serving as a judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Uttarakhand.
The Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B. R. Gavai noted that the current Chief Justice Uttarakhand Ritu Bahri is due for retirement on October 10, 2024, and therefore appointment to that office is required to be made.
The Supreme Court Collegium also recommended elevation of nine advocates as judges of the Bombay High Court.

Centre Notifies Appointment of Chief Justices to Eight High Courts
The Central government notified the appointment of Chief Justices to eight High Courts.
The judges appointed as Chief Justice are: Justice Manmohan acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court appointed as regular Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice Rajiv Shakdher (of Delhi High Court) appointed as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Suresh Kait (of Delhi High Court) appointed as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji (of Calcutta High Court) appointed as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar (of Bombay High Court) appointed as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court, Justice Tashi Rabstan (acting Chief Justice of J&K and Ladhak High Court) appointed as regular Chief Justice of the J&K and Ladakh High Court, Justice Shriram Kalpathi Rajendran (of Bombay High Court) appointed as Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Justice M. S. Ramachandra Rao (Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court) transferred to Jharkhand High Court.
The recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium with regard to the Chief Justices were made in July 2024. However, this month (September), it altered its earlier recommendations with respect to the appointment of Chief Justices (CJs) to four High Courts.
