IIM Raipur Launches PG Diploma Courses in 'Digital Health'

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur forged a strategic partnership with Digital Health Academy (DHA), which operates under the name Digital Health Associates Pvt Ltd. This collaboration marks the inception of noteworthy postgraduate certificate and diploma programmes specialising in the dynamic domain of Digital Health.
As part of this initiative, aspiring students can now embark on a comprehensive educational journey aimed at equipping them with expertise in the intersection of healthcare and technology.
The meticulously structured courses, spanning one year (53 weeks), offer a comprehensive self-paced learning experience. The online delivery format ensures participants can immerse themselves in a flexible learning environment that adapts to their individual preferences and schedules.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be conferred with the prestigious title of "Executive Alumni," jointly awarded by the revered Indian Institute of Management- Raipur and Digital Health Academy.

In a First in India, Goa to Give Free IVF Treatment in Govt. Hospital

Goa became the first Indian state to offer free in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. The inauguration of this service, alongside assisted reproductive technology (ART) and intrauterine insemination (IUI), was done by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim.
The initiative comes at a time when the demand for fertility treatments is on a rapid rise in India. Ernst & Young's Call to Action report highlights a remarkable 15-20% annual growth in the fertility business over the past five years. The nation witnesses between 250,000 to 300,000 IVF treatments annually, reflecting the increasing prevalence of fertility disorders.

Sudha Murthy on NCERT Panel to Revise Textbooks

Infosys Foundation Chairman Sudha Murthy, music maestro Shankar Mahadevan, economist Sanjeev Sanyal and 16 others are part of a new committee constituted by the NCERT to revise textbooks according to the new curriculum.
The 19-member National Syllabus and Teaching Learning Material Committee headed by National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration chancellor M. C. Pant will develop textbooks for Classes III to XII. The committee is mandated to prepare the books and other teaching learning materials which will be published and used by the NCERT.

Delhi Government Launches Climate Summit to Engage Youth

The Delhi government launched a 10-month framework to engage educational institutions to foster climate leadership among youth through the 'Delhi Youth for Climate Summit' that was held on August 10 and 11.
The programme seeks to go beyond theoretical knowledge, trying to inspire educational institutions to translate their learnings into practical action.

ISB Inks MoU with Goa Government for Knowledge Partnership

The Indian School of Business' (ISB's) Bharti Institute of Public Policy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Goa government to commence a knowledge partnership with a focus on evidence-based policy formulation and its impact in the state.
According to the MoU, Bharti Institute will facilitate furthering the state government's objectives to improve the social and economic prosperity indicators through evidence-based public policy interventions, capacity-building workshops, and citizen-centric governance-based initiatives as a knowledge partner.
It will collaborate with the Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD) to conduct workshops for officials of State services.
Bharti Institute will also develop the Goa Open Data Portal in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, Goa that will serve as a 'one-stop destination' for citizens to access digital services.

Govt to Build Research Parks at 8 IITs, IISc Bangalore

The Central government has approved the setting up of research parks at eight Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore to augment the research ecosystem in the country, according to the Union Education Ministry.
To strengthen the country's research ecosystem, the government will build research parks at IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Kanpur as well as IISc Bangalore.
The move is intended to reinforce academic-industry ties while also expanding the research environment, Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar informed the Lok Sabha on August 7 in a written reply to a question. He further mentioned that the research parks at IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, and IIT Madras are already operational, and others are nearing completion.
"The main objectives of these Research Park are to have research collaboration with top-rated industries, to enable entrepreneurship and incubation of students and building strong academic linkages for the same, to increase outreach of academic content to industry and enabling industry to add value to academic programme through close collaborations etc." the minister said.
On the other hand, the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Bill, which established a national organisation to finance research at all of the nation's universities, was approved by the Lok Sabha on August 7. On August 4, Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh introduced the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Bill 2023 in Lok Sabha

National Exit Test (NExT) to be made mandatory for BDS graduates for licence to practice and dent...

With the aim of regulating the profession of dentistry in India, provide quality and affordable dental education, and make high quality oral healthcare more accessible, the Union Government is planning to make the National Exit Test (NExT-Dental) mandatory for dental graduates (BDS) to grant licence to practise dentistry, and for admission to post-graduate dental courses.
The Union Government introduced the National Dental Commission Bill, 2023 in Parliament on July 24. It was passed in the Lok Sabha on July 28, and is awaiting approval of the Rajya Sabha.I
According to the Bill, a common final-year undergraduate dental examination, to be known as the 'National Exit Test (Dental)' will be held for granting licence to practise dentistry and for enrolment in the 'State Register or the National Register'. The National Dental Commission will conduct the NExT (Dental), which will become operational within three years of the date of commencement of the Act.
