PM Modi Announces Rooftop Solar Scheme

After the Ram temple ceremony in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government will launch the 'Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana' under which 1 crore rooftop solar system will be installed across the country. This is his first scheme after the consecretion ceremony.
This will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class, but will also make India self-reliant in the energy sector.

'Yuva Nidhi' Scheme For Jobless Youth in Shivamogga, Karnataka

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar launched the Yuva Nidhi scheme, the fifth poll guarantee of the Congress for educated unemployed youth of Karnataka, in Shivamogga. Apart from their Cabinet colleagues, thousands of people and youth from Shivamogga and neighbouring districts turned up for the launch.
The scheme offers financial aid to graduates and diploma holders who are yet to get a job, but only for a maximum of two years. Training will be provided to the graduates and diploma holders who register themselves on the skill connect portal of the State Government.
The government had promised Rs. 3,000 per month to degree holders and Rs. 1,500 per month to diploma holders who were unable to get a job in the past six months and are not pursuing higher studies. The aid will be paid for two years.

Defense Minister Sanctions Insurance Scheme for BRO Workers

India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, approved a groundbreaking scheme aimed at providing insurance cover to casual workers employed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). This move is designed to address the inherent risks associated with the challenging tasks these workers undertake in remote and hazardous areas. The scheme is expected to offer financial security and welfare to the families of casual paid labourers who play a crucial role in building infrastructure in the country's farthest frontiers.
The approved scheme is set to provide a significant INR 10 lakh ($13,500) to the families of casual paid labourers in the unfortunate event of their death.
BRO employs a substantial workforce, with up to one lakh casual workers contributing to infrastructure projects in border areas.

Assam Government Initiates 'Gunotsav 2024'

The Assam government initiated the fifth edition of 'Gunotsav 2024,' a comprehensive state-wide assessment aimed at evaluating the performance of approximately 40 lakh students across government schools. The initiative, which runs through January and concludes on February 8, 2024, would play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education and improving learning outcomes in the state.
'Gunotsav' emphasises active participation from all stakeholders, including teachers, students, administrators, and local communities. This holistic engagement is expected to foster accountability and contribute to an overall enhancement of the quality of education in Assam.
'Gunotsav' made its debut in 2017, and the 2024 edition marks the fifth round of this comprehensive exercise, covering all districts of Assam. The continued commitment to the initiative underscores the state's dedication to continually improve the quality of education and provide a robust learning environment for its students.

Chhattisgarh Launches "Ramlala Darshan" Scheme: Free Pilgrimage to Ayodhya Dham

Chhattisgarh Government approved the Ramlala Darshan Scheme, a pilgrimage to the newly built Ram Temple at Ayodhya. The decision was made during a state cabinet meeting held in Raipur.
The launch of the scheme was one of the promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the elections late last year (2023). The state will send around 20,000 residents to Ayodhya for darshan of Shri Ramlala every year.
Open to Chhattisgarh residents aged 18-75 who pass a health exam. Disabled people can go with one family member.
The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board will implement the scheme and the budget for it will be provided by the Tourism Department.

KALIA Scholarship Scheme: Odisha Govt Begins Registration

Odisha government started the online registration of students belonging to farmers' families under the extended 'KALIA Scholarship' scheme.
The government has meanwhile modified the guidelines of the scheme and it will henceforth provide scholarship to students who undertake technical and professional courses in private institutes inside and outside state.
Earlier, it was provided to farmer's children enrolled only in government institutions within the state.
The scholarship is for maximum two years for post graduate and four years for PhD courses.
