MP Cabinet Approves Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023

  • The Madhya Pradesh government approved a scheme to provide compensation to victims of mob lynching.
  • The Cabinet, which was chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also approved change of name of a housing scheme.
  • In accordance with Supreme Court directives to the states, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved MP Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023.
  • Under this scheme, mob lynching has been specified as killing of any person or persons by a group of five or more persons on grounds of religion, caste, sex, place of birth, language, food habits, sexual orientation, political affiliation, ethnicity or other such ground or grounds.
  • Notably, a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh will be provided to the kin of the deceased. Furthermore, there will be provisions for compensations ranging from Rs. 4 to Rs. 6 lakh for the injured in such incidents. These compensations will encompass all instances of mob lynching, irrespective of the motivations behind the attack, including those driven by factors such as religion, caste, language, or any other reason.

Ayushman Bhava to Ensure Delivery of Health Schemes

  • 'Ayushman Bhava' a campaign to ensure optimum delivery of health schemes to every intended beneficiary, including those in the last mile, was launched by the President of India.
  • Ayushman Bhava is an umbrella campaign comprising Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0 which is aimed at creation and distribution of Ayushman cards to all remaining eligible beneficiaries; Ayushman Mela as part of which weekly health melas will be held at the level of AB-HWCs and Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Ayushman Sabha, a village/ward level sabha to be held to enhance awareness about various health care schemes and services.
  • With the successful implementation of all the above initiatives, the campaign will eventually ensure gram/nagar panchayat to attain the status of 'Ayushman Gram Panchayat' or 'Ayushman Ward' with saturation of selected health indicators.

Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh Chairs Conclave on 'Lakhpati Didi' Scheme

  • Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh chaired a national conclave on enabling two crore Lakhpati Didi's, who earn sustainable income of at least one lakh rupees per annum. The conclave was organised by Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) in New Delhi.
  • Singh stressed adopting a whole of government approach for maximum impact through convergence to transform the rural economy with the enabling of Lakhpati Didis. He added that DAY-NRLM, the flagship poverty alleviation programme of the Central government is the world's largest initiative to improve the livelihoods of the poor.

Himachal CM Sukhu Launches SABAL Yojna to Empower Specially-abled Children

  • Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the Mukhya Mantri Sporting Abilities, Rebuilding Aspirations and Livelihood Scheme (SABAL) from his home assembly segment Nadaun in this district. The Chief Minister also announced to set up a 'Rajya Chayan Aayog' in place of the now-dissolved Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission in Hamirpur within the next two months to ensure fairness in the selection criteria of candidates.
  • The SABAL scheme intends to take care of specially-abled children in around 400 schools across Hamirpur, Solan and Shimla districts.
  • The SABAL Yojana is aimed at improving the lives of specially-abled children in the state. The initiative focuses on providing essential facilities and opportunities for them.

  • In a significant achievement, the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) provided tap water connections to an impressive 13 crore rural households, marking a remarkable journey since its launch on India's 73rd Independence Day, August 15, 2019. This mission, guided by the principles of speed and scale, rapidly expanded access to clean water in rural areas, progressing from 3.23 crore households in August 2019 to the current milestone in just four years.
