MP Launches Interest Waiver Scheme for 11L Farmers

  • Ahead of Madhya Pradesh elections later this year, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a scheme to waive Rs. 2,200 crore worth of interest due from 11 lakh farmers who have defaulted on loans.
  • The waived interest will be reimbursed by the state.
  • Under the CM Farm Loan Waiver Scheme 2023, the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh will accept applications from defaulter farmers and pay the due amount.

Smriti Irani Launches 'Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi' Scheme to Strengthen EECE

  • Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani launched the Centre's flagship programme 'Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi', which will focus on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) at anganwadis across the country.
  • Irani said that the ministry has allocated Rs. 600 crore for the training of anganwadi workers to implement the ECCE. The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) were roped in for the training of Anganwadi workers.
  • The aim is not only to make anganwadi centres nutrition hubs but also education-imparting centres. The ECCE will focus on education in the mother tongue, as per the New Education Policy.

Telangana Government Launches India's First Robotics Framework

  • The Telangana government introduced a new policy known as the State Robotics Framework. It is designed to establish a self-sustaining robotics ecosystem and to position the state as a leader in robotics in India. The policy aims to provide support for research and development, encourage collaboration between academia and industry, and promote the adoption of robotics technology across various sectors.
  • The framework is a comprehensive roadmap that outlines the state's vision for the development of the robotics ecosystem in the state and contributing to the growth of the industry in the country.
  • The framework was developed by the Emerging Technologies Wing of the ITE&C Department of Telangana in collaboration with the All India Robotics Association and inputs from academia, industry experts and stakeholders.
  • The introduction of the new policy known as the State Robotics Framework makes Telangana the first state to launch such a policy.

India Inks 1st Defence Pact with Caribbean Nation

  • India, for the first time, included a Caribbean nation, the Dominican Republic, into the ITEC-Defence Scheme, under which the armed forces personnel of that country will get trained at various military training institutes in the country.
  • The pact was among the several signed during External Affairs Minister Jaishankar's visit. The two sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in cutting-edge sectors such as space exploration, satellite data management, artificial intelligence, biotechnologies, information and communication technologies and more.
