Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2024 Announced

In a significant move to recognise and honour outstanding contributions to science, technology, and innovation, the Indian government announced the inaugural Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskars. This new award system, replacing over 300 previous awards from various science departments, aims to celebrate the achievements of academics, technologists, and inventors across the country.
The highest honour, the Vigyan Ratna Puraskar, was awarded to Dr. Govindarajan Padmanabhan, a celebrated biochemist and former director of the Indian Institute of Science-Bengaluru. Dr. Padmanabhan, also a Padma Bhushan laureate, receives this lifetime achievement award in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of biochemistry.

President Droupadi Murmu Conferred 'Companion of the Order of Fiji' in Capital Suva

Indian President Droupadi Murmu was on a two-day state visit to Fiji, marking a milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two nations. The visit, characterised by ceremonial honours and high-level meetings, underscored the growing partnership between India and Fiji in various spheres of cooperation.
President Murmu was conferred with the 'Companion of the Order of Fiji', the highest honour bestowed by the Fijian government. This prestigious recognition symbolises the deep respect and strong ties between India and Fiji.
President Murmu was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by the Fiji Military Force. This formal welcome exemplified the respect and importance Fiji attributes to India's head of state.

MRPL Wins Greentech Pollution Control Waste Management & Recycling Award

The Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) was awarded the prestigious Greentech Pollution Control Waste Management & Recycling Award in the Circular Economy Leadership category. This recognition highlights MRPL's significant achievements in managing hazardous and other types of waste in an environmentally friendly manner, emphasizing circular economy practices.
The award underscores MRPL's commitment to maintaining a robust waste management system, focusing on recycling and reusing hazardous waste, and recovering precious metals through recycling processes. Notably, the company achieved zero waste disposal to landfills during the fiscal year 2023-24.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh Conferred the Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award

In a ceremony to mark the International Meet of leading medical celebrities, professionals and medicos from all over the country and abroad, Union Minister Jitendra Singh was conferred the prestigious 'Lifetime Achievement Award' in recognition of his exemplary dedication to the advancement of diabetology, diabetes care and diabetes research which earned him acknowledgement across the country and overseas.
