International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms

The International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms is observed on July 12 on the recommendation of the United Nations General Assembly at Iran's intuitive in the backdrop of sand and dust storms and their negative impacts and their increased frequency in recent times.
The U.N. General Assembly declared 2025 to 2034 the United Nations Decade on Combating Sand and Dust Storms — extreme weather events that are increasing and threatening health and economies from central Africa to northern China.

World Malala Day

On July 12, people worldwide celebrate World Malala Day, honouring the inspiring young activist Malala Yousafzai. The United Nations designated July 12 as World Malala Day to commemorate her contributions to advocating for women's and children's rights. This day, which marks Malala Yousafzai's birthday, is a global reminder of the importance of these rights.
Malala, a Pakistani educational campaigner, made history in 2014 when she became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate at the age of 17. World Malala Day also underscores the continued fight for education and equality for women and children everywhere.
She gained international recognition for her courageous activism in her homeland, the Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwest Pakistan, where the Pakistani Taliban intermittently banned girls from attending school. Renowned for her dedication to human rights, especially in championing the education of women and children, Malala's mission has grown into a global movement, with former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi referring to her as Pakistan's "most prominent citizen."

National Fish Farmer's Day

Every year on July 10th, India celebrates National Fish Farmer's Day to honour the invaluable contributions of fish farmers, aquaculture professionals, and stakeholders in the fisheries sector. This day serves as a platform to recognise their efforts in ensuring a sustainable and thriving fishing industry, which plays a crucial role in India's economy and food security.
The date holds historical importance, commemorating the groundbreaking work of Professor Dr. Hiralal Chaudhury and his colleague Dr. K. H. Alikunhi. On this day in 1957, they successfully demonstrated the induced breeding of Indian Major Carps using the hypophysation technique, sparking a revolution in inland aquaculture.

World Population Day

World Population Day, observed on July 11, aims to raise awareness about global population issues and their impact on society. Established by the United Nations, this significant event highlights the importance of addressing population-related concerns such as reproductive health, family planning, gender equality, and sustainable development.
"Leave no one behind, count everyone" is the theme for World Population Day 2024. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres commented, "This year's theme highlights the importance of investing in data collection to understand issues, tailor solutions, and drive progress.

World Kiswahili Language Day

On July 7, 2024, the world came together and celebrated the 3rd World Kiswahili Language Day at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The 2024 theme, 'Kiswahili: Education and Culture of Peace', highlighted the important role of this African language in promoting understanding and harmony across cultures.
The General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its 41st session held in Paris, France, in 2021 proclaimed July 7 of each year as World Kiswahili Language Day, making it the first African language to be recognised in such a manner by the UN.

Global Forgiveness Day

Global Forgiveness Day dedicated to creating goodwill and helping people to stop carrying around so much guilt and pain is observed on July 7.
This day was first established in 1994 by the Christian Embassy of Christ's Ambassadors in Canada. It was originally called Forgiveness Day, and it was renamed Global Forgiveness Day when it gained popularity around the world.

International Day of Cooperatives

The United Nations' (UN) International Day of Cooperatives is observed on the first Saturday of July each year.
On December 16, 1992, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed in resolution 47/90 "the first Saturday of July 1995 to be International Day of Cooperatives, marking the centenary of the establishment of the International Cooperative Alliance. Since 1995 the United Nations' International Day of Cooperatives has been observed jointly alongside International Cooperative Day.
The theme for International Day of Cooperatives 2024 is 'Cooperatives Building a Better Future for All'.

World Zoonoses Day

World Zoonosis Day is celebrated on 6th July every year. World Zoonosis Day is observed annually on July 6 to commemorate the first vaccinations against zoonotic diseases such as influenza, Ebola and West Nile virus. On July 6, 1885, French biologist Louis Pasteur administered the rabies vaccine to a small boy who had been bitten by a rabid dog. This vaccine saved the boy from infection. So every year this date is celebrated as World Zoonosis Day.
