President of India Inaugurates 'Unmesha' and 'Utkarsh' Festivals in Bhopal

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu inaugurated 'Unmesha' – International Literature Festival and 'Utkarsh' – Festival of Folk and Tribal Performing Arts at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, organised by by the Ministry of Culture in association with Sahitya Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The festival, based on folk art, music and literature, was held in Bhopal for the first time.
Around 800 artists from 36 states and union territories of the country participated in the festival and spread a colourful shade of folk and tribal performing arts.
Writers from Spain, Fiji, Japan, Poland, and Nepal express view on Global Literature for Globalised World.

UAS Opens First-of-its-kind Agriculture Science Museum in Bengaluru

With the aim of imparting knowledge on the evolution of agriculture practices to students and the general public, the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) opened a first-of-its-kind museum on its campus in Bengaluru.
This came in the context of rapid urbanisation that has virtually disconnected the younger generation from agricultural practices with many not knowing how foodgrains are cultivated in rural India.
Minister of Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy and Pro-Chancellor, UAS-B, inaugurated the museum.
It has live models and history of agriculture. The museum is based on various themes and models, displayed in six rooms, to cover the diverse aspects of agriculture.

Newly Constructed National Martyr's Memorial Unveiled at Jagjivan RPF Academy Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

Sanjay Chander, Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF), unveiled the newly constructed National Martyr's Memorial and National Museum for Railway Security at Jagjivan RPF Academy, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
This Martyr's Memorial is spread over an area of 4800 square meters and on this memorial, the names of 1014 martyred RPF personnel from 1957 till date have been inscribed and tribute was paid to them on behalf of the RPF.
The museum offers visitors a comprehensive insight into the history, origin, accomplishments, duties, and responsibilities of the Railway Protection Force.
The guiding motto of this museum is 'Gyanvardhanaya-chs-Sanrakshanaya'which serves as a perpetual inspiration for the RPF to foster knowledge and safeguard heritage.

Ancient Portal to the Underworld Discovered in Israel

Archaeologists discovered evidence of an ancient portal to the underworld near Jerusalem. The place contains ancient skulls, lamps, coins, and artefacts that span thousands of years.
Te'omim Cave, located in the Jerusalem Hills of Israel has been studied since 1873. The experts have long suspected that the spring water that flows through the underground system was considered healing to those who used the cave between 4000 BCE and the fourth century CE.
The cave is a source of both legends and historical dramas. The place also served as a hideout for Jewish rebels during the Bar Kokhba revolt in the 2nd century CE.
The researchers have been excavating the cave since 2009 as part of a collaboration of the Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology at Bar-Ilan University and the Cave Research Center at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Bastar Dusshera, World's Longest Festival, Begins In Chhattisgarh

The 600-year-old 'Bastar Dusshera' commenced on 'Hariyali Amavashya' with the performance of the Patjatra rituals at the Danteswari temple of Jagadalpur in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district.
Bastar Dussehra, which is considered as world's longest festival, commences after performing 'Patjatra' rituals, according to which worship is offered to a log of saal tree.
The festival is celebrated for around 75 days.
The festival in Bastar's division headquarters Jagdalpur is marked by the participation of tribal as well as other people in huge numbers.
As per the tradition, the log, which is worshipped, is used to make a massive chariot. On this wooden chariot, the canopy of goddess 'Danteshwari' (the deity of Bastar) is taken around the city.
