Centre To Start Cashless Treatment Scheme for Road Crash Victims
The government formulated a scheme to provide cashless treatment to victims of road accidents caused by the use of motor vehicle and initiated implementation on a pilot basis in Chandigarh and Assam, Parliament was informed.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that under the scheme, the eligible victims are administered health benefit packages relating to trauma and polytrauma care at empanelled hospitals under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY), up to a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh for a maximum period of seven days from the date of accident.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Inaugurates J&K Film Conclave, Unveils J&K Film Policy 2024
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the J&K Film Conclave, organised by Department of Information & Public Relations and also unveiled J&K Film Policy 2024 and launched a slew of initiatives including single window portal for film shooting permissions and subsidies, J&K Film Screening Series and frames of Transformation Photography competition.
The J&K Film Policy 2024 unveiled will attract, support and facilitate regional, national and international film production in the UT.
"The film-friendly and pragmatic J&K film policy will ensure that heaven on earth is truly a heaven for filmmakers. We will provide high-impact infrastructure, support in sourcing locations and a large pool of professionals, financial incentives to make the filming more attractive in J&K," he said.
While highlighting the J&K Film Policy, Sinha said that it also provides added incentives for films in local languages, thereby promoting regional cinema of J&K.

Goa Launches 'Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan' Scheme
In a push towards sustainable energy, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the 'Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan' scheme, aligning it with the Prime Minister's Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The initiative is aimed at enhancing solar rooftop installations in Goa, enabling residential households to generate their own electricity and reduce reliance on traditional power sources.
The Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan has an initial investment of Rs. 35 crore. The Goa Energy Development Agency will cover the remaining cost for rooftop installations up to 5kW for consumers using 400 or fewer units annually.

U.P. Assembly Passes Stringent Bill on Anti-conversion Law
The Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha passed the Uttar Pradesh Unlawful Conversion of Religion (Amendment) Bill, 2024 making the law stricter by providing for a maximum punishment of life imprisonment for those found guilty of marrying a woman by deceiving her and illegally converting her religion.
The Bill says that if a person threatens, attacks, marries or promises to marry or conspires for it, or traffics a woman, minor or anyone with the intention of conversion, then his crime will be placed in the most serious category. In such cases, there is a provision for 20 years imprisonment or life imprisonment. Under the amended provisions, any person can register a First Information Report (FIR) in conversion cases. Earlier, under the Unlawful Conversion Act, 2021, the presence of the victim, her parents or siblings was necessary in order to provide information or lodge a complaint, . The new Bill proposes that cases of unlawful conversion will not be heard by any court below the Sessions Court, and along with this, a bail plea will not be considered without giving an opportunity to the public prosecutor. The Bill has also made all the crimes under the amended Act non-bailable.

Andhra Pradesh CM Removes Jagan Reddy's Name from Welfare Schemes for Students in AP
The Andhra Pradesh education department renamed half a dozen welfare schemes for students in the state. The department replaced the names of these schemes, previously named after former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, with the names of eminent personalities in the field of education.
The state's ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government has replaced these names with those of notable personalities, such as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
