Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation, 2023

  • Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation for 2023 was awarded to 140 police officers.
  • The awardees include 22 women officers.
  • The medal was constituted in 2018 with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation and recognise excellence in investigations. It is announced on August 12 every year.
  • The Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation for 2023 was awarded to 140 police personnel.
  • Among the awardees are 15 personnel from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), 12 from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), 10 from Uttar Pradesh, nine each from Kerala and Rajasthan, eight from Tamil Nadu, seven from Madhya Pradesh and six from Gujarat.
  • The remaining officers were from the other states, Union Territories and organisations.

Exiled Belarus opposition leader wins Swedish rights prize

  • Exiled Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya on Wednesday won a rights prize in memory of Sweden's assassinated foreign minister Anna Lindh for her "tireless" fight for democracy, the award's organisers said.
  • The Anna Lindh Prize, worth 100,000 Swedish kronor ($9,400), is given "to encourage primarily women and youth who, in Anna Lindh's spirit, show the courage to work against indifference, prejudice, oppression and injustice", according to the Anna Lindh Memorial Fund that awards the honour.
  • Tikhanovskaya, who claimed victory against Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in 2020 presidential elections, has been in exile since the aftermath of the disputed vote, and lives in Lithuania.

  • The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has won Asia's Best Brand Employer Award under the category 'Organisation with Innovative HR Practices'.
  • The award was announced at the 14th edition of the 18th Brand Congress on Tuesday and will be presented on August 17 in Singapore, a KSRTC statement said.

  • It's the first time the HBO hit has won TCA's most prestigious award after bids in 2020 and 2022. "Succession" also won drama series for the third time, following victories in 2020 and 2022, to join "The Americans," "Homicide: Life on the Street," "Lost" and "Mad Men" as three-time champs in the category ("The Sopranos" holds the record with four wins). This means that "Succession" has won drama series for three of its four seasons, having only lost on its first nomination in 2019 to "Better Call Saul."
