Remembrance Day 2025

Every year people across the UK come together to remember those who have died in wars across the world.
Remembrance Day marks the day World War One ended - at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, in 1918. It is also known as Armistice Day.
Ceremonies also take place on the second Sunday in November - this is known as Remembrance Sunday.

National Education Day 2025

Every year, on November 11, India observes National Education Day to remember Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the country's first Education Minister. Azad's ideas laid the foundation for modern Indian education, much of what we see today. For students, teachers and parents alike, it is a reminder that education is not just a policy — it is a promise to make opportunity available to everyone.

Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Odisha to participate in key programmes on enhancing farmers' income, ensuring nutritional security, and promoting natural farming practices in the state. Chouhan attended the inaugural session of the Mandia Dibasa or Millet Day programme as the Chief Guest.

Uttarakhand Foundation Day 2025

Uttarakhand Foundation Day is celebrated annually on November 9 to mark the day when the state was created in 2000. Earlier, it was part of Uttar Pradesh. Uttarakhand, a state which is crossed by the Himalayas, is known for its natural beauty and cultural richness. It has a mix of many cultures, with influences from Hindu, Buddhist and indigenous traditions. The state is famous for its folk music, dance, and art forms like Aang, Thumri and Jhora.
Uttarakhand was formed as the 27^th state of India, with Dehradun as its capital. The day commemorates the creation of a separate state for the people, who had long demanded a state of their own. Uttarakhand is also known for its unique cultural identity, with festivals like Ganga Dussehra and Nanda Devi Raj Jaat being major attractions.

National Legal Services Day: Access to Justice for All

India observed National Legal Services Day in November 2025 to commemorate the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, which came into effect on this day in 1995. The day highlighted India's commitment to ensuring access to justice for all, especially the underprivileged and marginalised.
According to the Ministry of Law and Justice, more than 44.22 lakh citizens have received free legal aid and advice through the Legal Services Authorities between 2022 and 2025. During the same period, over 23.58 crore cases were resolved across National, State, and Permanent Lok Adalats, underscoring the growing impact of India's alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

World Science Day 2025

Celebrated every year on 10 November, World Science Day for Peace and Development highlights the important role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.
By linking science more closely with society, World Science Day for Peace and Development aims to ensure that citizens are kept informed of developments in science. It also underscores the role scientists play in broadening our understanding of the remarkable, fragile planet we call home and in making our societies more sustainable.
This year's theme is Trust, transformation, and tomorrow: The science we need for 2050.

National Legal Services Day

Every year on November 9, National Legal Services Day is marked to mark the beginning of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, which went into effect on that date in 1995.
On October 11, 1987, the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 was enacted, while the act took effect on November 9, 1995. The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 on December 5, 1995, to provide free Legal Services to the weaker sections of the society and to organize Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes.
The National Legal Services Day 2025 theme is 'Justice for All: Through the Lens of Legal Aid'.

World Radiography Day

World Radiography Day (WRD) is celebrated on November 8 each year. The date marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895.
On November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, a German physicist, discovered x-radiations. This was an accidental discovery while he was doing experiments on fluorescence produced in vacuum tubes.

National Cancer Awareness Day

Every year, National Cancer Awareness Day is observed in India on November 7. This important national day aims to raise awareness about cancer prevention, the benefits of early detection, and the need for accessible treatment.
National Cancer Awareness Day was first introduced in 2014 by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the then Union Health Minister of India. The date was chosen to mark the birth anniversary of Marie Curie, a Nobel laureate whose pioneering research led to major breakthroughs in cancer treatment using radioactivity.

Uttarakhand Foundation Day

Uttarakhand Foundation Day, also known as Uttarakhand Diwas, is celebrated on November 9 to mark the formation of Uttarakhand as a separate state in India. Known as the 'Land of the Gods' (Devbhumi), the state is famous for its scenic beauty and numerous Hindu pilgrimage sites. This day honours the cultural and historical significance of Uttarakhand and its journey to becoming a distinct state.
Uttarakhand was officially formed on November 9, 2000, after a long struggle for statehood due to the region's cultural, geographical, and administrative differences with Uttar Pradesh.
Initially called Uttaranchal, the state's name was changed to Uttarakhand in 2007.
