Vijayawada to Host 'Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam 2025' Carnatic Music Festival

  • The Union Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Union Ministry of Culture, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Andhra Pradesh Tourism, and the Andhra Pradesh Department of Culture hold the third edition of the Carnatic music festival Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam in Vijayawada.
  • The theme for this year – "Celebrating the Richness of Telugu Music Traditions" – aims to highlight Andhra Pradesh's cultural heritage while promoting music tourism, supporting artisans and weavers, and positioning Vijayawada as a growing hub for Carnatic music.
  • Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism and Culture Kandula Durgesh inaugurated the festival in the presence of elected representatives, senior officials from the Union Ministry of Tourism, and state tourism authorities.

Patan Craft & Culture Festival 2025 Showcases Nepali Art & Handicrafts

  • The Patan Craft and Culture Festival 2025 in Lalitpur attracted art lovers and handicraft enthusiasts. The Expo is running for a week jointly organised by the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), Lalitpur, and Patan Museum. The festival aims to promote Nepali art, culture, and traditional handicrafts.
  • The event is running until December 7 at Patan Durbar Square and the Patan Museum premises. The festival features about 21 canopy stalls and 10 table stalls along with serving of traditional Newari foods. 
  • The Handicraft Promotion Committee of Lalitpur has showcased Newari traditional jewellery and ethnic costumes used in the ten rites of Buddhism. Classical music, Charya dance, Ashtamatrika dance, Kartik dance, along with Nepal Bhasa folk dances and songs, accompanied by traditional Dha Baja and Damokhi Baja performances are presented on daily basis.

Odisha CM Inaugurates Konark and International Sand Art Festivals

  • CM Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the 36th Konark Festival and 15th International Sand Art Festival, setting the stage for five days of dance, music and creativity. Both the events conclude on December 5.
  • The twin festivals, organised by the tourism department in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi and Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), celebrate India's cultural heritage and artistic brilliance.
  • Both events play a major role in promoting Odisha as a cultural tourism destination. The Konark Festival attracts classical dance enthusiasts from across India, while the International Sand Art Festival provides an international platform for sand sculptors to display creative interpretations of traditional and contemporary themes.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Inaugurates Saras Aajeevika Food Festival 2025

  • Union Minister for Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the Saras Aajeevika Food Festival 2025 in New Delhi.
  • The Ministry of Rural Development informed that around 300 Lakhpati Didis and women from Self-Help Groups from 25 states across the country are participating in the festival.
  • The food festival concludes December 9, 2025.

Kolkata Hosts 8th Edition of International Chair Poetry Festival

  • Kolkata was a global meeting point for poets as the eighth edition of Chair Poetry Evenings was held from November 28 to 30, 2025. The festival continues to strengthen the city's reputation as a centre for literary and cultural exchange, drawing poets from diverse backgrounds and traditions.
  • Poets from thirteen countries shared their work in sixteen languages, highlighting the festival's commitment to cultural plurality. The line-up featured acclaimed voices including Susan Rich, Simon Armitage, Mona Arshi, Madara Gruntmane and Peter Verhelst, alongside several Indian poets.

'Safe House' Wins the Prestigious ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at International Film Festival of India

  • The Norwegian film 'Safe House', directed by Eirik Svensson, was awarded the ICFT–UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025) for its outstanding contribution to cinema that promotes peace, non-violence, and intercultural dialogue. The award was received by Manouj Kadaamh, Honorary Representative of ICFT–UNESCO Paris on behalf of the film's director Eirik Svensson and presented by MD, NFDC, Prakash Magdum.
  • Instituted in collaboration with the International Council for Film, Television, and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT) and UNESCO, this award honours films that reflect ideals of tolerance, intercultural dialogue, and culture of peace.
  • The Golden Peacock for the Best Feature Film at IFFI 2025 was bagged by Ashleigh Mayfair's 'Skin of Youth'. The Vietnamese drama follows the precarious lives of San and Nam, and their struggle for love and identity in 1990s Saigon.
