World Day Against Child Labour is observed on June 12 every year by all member countries of the United Nations. Its primary purpose is to increase awareness about the urgency of eradicating child labour. The International Labour Organization (ILO) established this observance in 2002, and it has been recognised as a global day since then.
It was spurred by ratifications of ILO Convention No. 138 on the minimum age for employment and ILO Convention No. 182 on the worst forms of child labour.
ILO observed the first World Day Against Child Labour, on June 12, 2002, at its headquarters in Geneva.
The 2023 theme for World Day Against Child Labour is 'Social Justice for All. End Child Labour!'. It emphasizes the link between social justice and child labour.

World Accreditation Day
World Accreditation Day is an annual global observance held on June 9. It aims at recognising and promoting the role of accreditation across various sectors. This day aims to raise awareness about the value and benefits of accreditation in ensuring competence, reliability, and credibility in industries such as healthcare, laboratories, certification bodies, and conformity assessment services.
World Accreditation Day came into existence in 2007 as a result of a joint effort between the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). The initial commemoration occurred in 2008 and cantered around the theme "Accreditation: Delivering Trust in the Global Market." Throughout the years, World Accreditation Day has continuously delved into various aspects of accreditation, shedding light on its importance in domains like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the improvement of food quality.
The theme for WAD 2023 is 'Accreditation: Supporting the Future of Global Trade'.
International Archives Day
International Archives Day is an annual celebration held on June 9.
During the 2004 International Congress in Vienna, 2000 attending participants adopted a resolution requesting that the United Nations (UN) designates a specific day to mark the importance and value of archives.
In 2005, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared October 27 as the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage (WDAH) during the 33rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris, France.
Subsequently, it was decided at the 2007 International Council on Archives (ICA) Annual General Meeting that June 9 would be celebrated as International Archives Day. The date, June 9, was chosen to commemorate the date ICA was created under the auspices of UNESCO in 1948.
One year later the first International Archives Day was celebrated, coinciding with the 60th Anniversary of ICA.

World Oceans Day
World Oceans Day is celebrated every year on 8 June to create awareness among people regarding the significance of oceans, and the importance of preserving and conserving oceanic resources.
World Oceans Day is recognised with the aim to reduce the reckless exploitation of oceans and develop sustainable measures to protect them. Several measures like demolishing the use of plastics, developing strong environmental policies, and implementing rules and regulations to support sustainable seafood choices are some of the effective ways to protect precious natural resources like oceans.
The concept was originally proposed in 1992 by Canada's International Centre for Ocean Development (ICOD) and the Ocean Institute of Canada (OIC) at the Earth Summit – UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Ocean Project started global coordination of World Ocean Day starting in 2002. World Oceans Day was officially recognised by the United Nations in 2008.
Every year, the World Oceans Day is celebrated under a specific theme. The theme for World Oceans Day 2023 is 'Planet Ocean: The Tides are Changing'.
World Brain Tumour Day
Every year on June 8, World Brain Tumour Day is observed globally to enhance understanding and raise awareness about brain tumours. As the fourth most serious and widespread disease worldwide, brain cancer is anticipated to surpass skin cancer and become the second most prevalent form of cancer by 2030.
The history of World Brain Tumour Day dates back to the early 2000s when the German Brain Tumour Association (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe e.V.) initiated a campaign to raise awareness about brain tumours. In 2000, the association declared May 8 as German Brain Tumour Day, aiming to inform the public about the challenges faced by patients and their families.
Over time, the observance gained international recognition, and efforts were made to establish a global day dedicated to brain tumour awareness. In 2010, the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA), an organization that brings together brain tumour advocacy groups from around the world, designated June 8 as World Brain Tumour Day.
The theme for 2023 World Brain Tumour Day is "Protect yourself – keep away from stress". The theme emphasises the importance of developing stress management techniques to prevent brain tumours.

World Food Safety Day
World Food Safety Day is celebrated on June 7 every year to encourage producers, consumers and governments to acknowledge the mutual responsibility of food safety. The United Nations (UN) assigned two of its agencies, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to lead efforts in promoting food safety around the world.
A resolution was adopted on December 20, 2018, by the United Nations General Assembly to mark June 7 as the day 'celebrating the myriad benefits of safe food'. The first-ever World Food Safety Day was celebrated on June 7, 2019, just a few months after it was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018.
The theme for World Food Safety Day 2023 was 'Food Standards Save Lives'.

UN Russian Language Day

This day aligns with the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, a renowned Russian poet known as the founder of modern Russian language.
