Union Tourism Ministry Launches National Best Tourism Village Competition & National Best Rural H...
Union Tourism Ministry launched National Best Tourism Village Competition and the National Best Rural Homestay Competition 2024 to strengthen the promotion and development of Rural Tourism in the country. The Ministry said that the government has launched the comprehensive National Strategy and Roadmap for the Development of Rural Tourism in India, along with the National Strategy for the Promotion of Rural Homestays. It initiated the implementation of the National strategies in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management.
To foster collaboration and create a conducive environment for the growth of Rural Tourism, the Ministry has actively engaged with industry stakeholders, NGOs and local communities through these competitions. The Ministry said that the competitions aim to develop healthy competitiveness among the villages and the rural homestays to identify and reward outstanding contributions to Rural Tourism.

Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates 'Classic Imperial' Luxury Cruise in Kerala
Nitin Gadkari virtually marked the inauguration of 'Classic Imperial,' a luxury cruise vessel, in Kochi, Kerala. This event was a significant milestone in the efforts to promote cruise tourism in the region. The Union Minister commended the commissioning of the vessel, emphasising the display of professional excellence and entrepreneurial skills.
The luxury cruise vessel, 'Classic Imperial,' was inaugurated at the Neo classic Boat Jetty at Marine Drive. Attended by dignitaries such as Kochi Corporation Mayor M. Anilkumar, Hibi Eden, MP, T. J. Vinod, MLA, and GCDA chairman K. Chandran Pillai.
The inauguration of 'Classic Imperial' marked a new era for cruise tourism in Kerala and India as a whole, with the government's commitment to convert rivers into waterways, coupled with entrepreneurial initiatives like 'Classic Imperial.

Ministry of Tourism Organises Prequel Event of Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with Ministry of Culture, Sangeet Natak Academy and State Government of Andhra Pradesh successfully organised the prequel event of Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam, a first of its kind festival to celebrate the rich heritage of classical music and promote lesser-known tourist attractions.
The prequel events organised at six locations on November 27, 2023 across the state were a resounding success and offered a glimpse of the main event to be organised in December 2023.
The Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam will be organised from December 10 to 12, 2023 in Vijayawada.
The event will also feature spectacular display and sale of regional cuisine, local handicrafts and handlooms. The festival also aims to promote the hidden gems of the region including spiritual, heritage and eco destinations.

Kerala's pioneering Responsible Tourism (RT) Mission achieved global acclaim by securing a spot on the prestigious list of Case Studies curated by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). This recognition not only reflects the mission's commitment to eco-friendly tourism but also serves as an inspiration for further advancements in promoting sustainable travel.
The inclusion of Kerala's RT Mission in the UNWTO's global list of Case Studies is a noteworthy achievement, positioning it alongside Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve project as the only Indian representatives on this esteemed list. These two case studies from India stand among seven G20 countries recognized by UNWTO, which include Mexico, Germany, Mauritius, Turkey, Italy, Brazil, and Canada.

Shillong Hosts 11th Edition of International Tourism Mart
The 11th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM), which highlighted the tourism potential of India's northeast region, held in Meghalaya's capital Shillong was inaugurated by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.
The ITM is an annual event held by the Ministry of Tourism in one of the North-eastern states on a rotation basis, with an objective to provide a bigger platform to the stakeholders in the Northeast to interact with their counterparts from both within the country and overseas markets as well as to create awareness about the tourism potential of Northeast region.
