Krishi-Mahotsav: Pradarshani Evam Prashikshan in Rajasthan

  • The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, in association with Department of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan, organised a two-day event, - 'Krishi-Mahotsav: Pradarshani evam Prashikshan' at Dussehra Ground, Kota, Rajasthan to make Kota Division of Rajasthan advanced and leading in the field of agriculture and rural development. Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, Sanjeev Balyan, Rajasthan state Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Lalchand Kataria, and Rajasthan Minister of State, Department of Cooperation, Udaylal Anjana were present in the inaugural ceremony. Apart from them, senior officers of Central Government, State Government and Indian Council of Agricultural Research and about 35,000 farmers, Agri start-ups, corporate bankers, extension workers and employees of private agricultural institutions were also present.
  • Through the exhibition, information about the various schemes of Central and State Government were disseminated through exhibitors. Also, private sector companies/institutions related to supply of various inputs of agriculture displayed their products through stalls. In this exhibition, 150 stalls were set up to provide updated information related to agriculture to the farmers. Keeping in view the need for start-ups in the field of agriculture, 75 stalls of start-ups were also set up, which was one of the main features of this exhibition.

CM Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates 'International Craft Summit'

  • Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik inaugurated an 'International Craft Summit' in Jajpur. The International Craft Summit was the first-of-its-kind craft summit to feature pioneer craftspersons, culture, and art enthusiasts. CM Naveen Patnaik addressed the inaugural event of the International Craft Summit virtually and noted that it is a historic occasion for Odisha.
  • International delegates from 15 countries arrived in Jajpur and engaged with local artisans and other stakeholders.
  • Four UN agencies and five UNESCO Creative Cities partnered with the District to realize this ambitious and forward-looking event on behalf of the State Government.

Assam's Charaideo Maidam Nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Tag

  • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the centre will send a proposal to UNESCO for nominating Charaideo Maidam of the Ahom Kingdom as a World Heritage Site.
  • As per Sarma, out of 52 tentative sites across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose Assam's Charaideo Maidam.
  • Charaideo Maidam was a burial ground of the Ahom monarch and is a sacred place for the Ahom community. Charaideo Maidam, about 28 km from Sivasagar city, is also famously known as the "Pyramids of Assam".
  • The Ahom community has been asking the government and UNESCO to nominate the place as a World Heritage Site.

SPIC MACAY, Culture Ministry Collaborate for 'Music in the Park' Series under 'Shruti Amrut'

  • The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) organised its very popular 'Music in the Park' series this year under the name 'Shruti Amrut' in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the New Delhi Municipal Council.
  • The beauty of Indian Classical Music was showcased by eminent artists from across the country.
  • SPIC MACAY is a voluntary youth movement that promotes the tangible & intangible aspects of Indian & world heritage by organising programs and workshops on Indian classical, folk music and dance, yoga, meditation, crafts, and other aspects of Indian culture. It is a movement started in 1977 and has chapters in over 850 towns across the world.

First Edition of Chennai International Book Fair Begins in Chennai

  • Focussed on facilitating the exchange of knowledge between publishers in Tamil Nadu and those from across the world, the first edition of the Chennai International Book Fair kicked off at the YMCA Grounds in Nandanam.
  • The three-day international fair was organised by the Directorate of Public Libraries, Tamil Nadu Text Book and Educational Services Corporation and Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India.
  • As a part of the fair, the Tamil Nadu government is also providing a global translation grant for promoting Tamil Literature to publishers who express interest in translating Tamil works into their language.

ASI Unearths Two 1200-year-old Miniature Stupas at Nalanda

  • The Patna circle of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) unearthed two miniature votive stupas dating back 1200 years during landscaping work near the Sarai Tila mound within the grounds of "Nalanda Mahavihara," a world heritage site in the state's Nalanda district. The stupas, carved from stone, depict Buddha figures.
  • The Nalanda Mahavihara site comprises the archaeological remains of a monastic and scholastic institution dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 13th century CE. It includes stupas, shrines, viharas (residential and educational buildings) and important art works in stucco, stone and metal.
