Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Wins Best Small Bank Award 2022

  • Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) bagged 'Best Small Bank Award' in the 'Best Banks Survey for the year 2022' done by Business Today-KPMG (BT-KPMG Best banks survey).
  • The bank won this award under the category of banks with the book size of less than Rs. 1 lakh crore. The BT-KPMG is conducting this survey and awarding the best banks for the past 27 years with 37 parameters for declaring a bank as an awardee. TMB, having registered its stellar performance in 2022, came up as topper in the respective category.
  • In a function held in Mumbai, TMB's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer S. Krishnan received the award from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

Naanera Bags Golden Kailasha Award at Ajanta-Ellora Film Festival

  • 'Naanera', a Rajasthani film directed by Deepankar Prakash, bagged the Golden Kailasha Award for the best movie at the Ajanta-Ellora film festival. Naanera (Grandfather's House) revolves around Manish. After the death of his father, Manish's uncle starts taking his life's decisions. The character's journey leads him to a questionable point when he begins a secret love affair with a cousin and the family finds itself in the middle of another death.
  • Naanera also bagged awards for best director, best screenplay, best editor.

Bhavin Rabari Bags International Press Academy (IPA) Award

  • Bhavin Rabari, the lead child actor in Pan Nalin's Oscar-nominated Gujarati film Chhello Show (The Last Film Show), bagged the International Press Academy (IPA) award in the 'Best Breakthrough Performance' category at the 27th Satellite Awards held in the United States.
  • The film is the first Indian film to be shortlisted for the Oscars in the 'Best International Feature Film' category after 21 years. The film has also bagged top honours in other international festivals like Tribeca, Busan, Mill Valley, and Seminci.
  • Rabari the child actor who played the character of the protagonist named Samay, is among the youngest recipients of the prestigious award, joining the list of former recipients such as Edward Norton, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Russel Crowe, and Hale Berry.

DNPA Announces Digital Impact Award 2023

  • Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) announced the winners of the e4m-DNPA Digital Impact Awards 2023. One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food & Public Distribution, CoWIN App of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana of the Department of Financial Services, GST of Department of Revenue Ministry of Finance, Himmat App of Delhi Police, CAMPA app of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, E Gov portal and DigiLocker of Ministry of Electronics & IT (MEITY), DIKSHA platform under NCERT, Ministry of Education and POSHAN Tracker App of Department and Women Development bagged the coveted Digital Impact Awards instituted by DNPA, an apex association of digital arms of 17 top publishers from Print & Electronic Media of India.
  • DNPA is an umbrella organization for the digital wings of media businesses in India, having initiated proactive action in recent years to restore equality and fairness for all news publishers. The association represents 17 media publishers, including Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, Indian Express, Malayala Manorama, ETV, India Today Group, Times Group, Amar Ujala, Hindustan Times, Zee Media, ABP Network, Lokmat, NDTV, New Indian Express, Mathrubhumi, Hindu, and Network 18.

Writer K. Venu Receives Federal Bank Literary Award

  • Noted writer K. Venu bagged the first-ever Federal Bank Literary Award 2022 for his autobiography 'Oranweshananthinte Katha'.
  • He received the award from Balagopal Chandrasekhar, chairman and independent director of Federal Bank, at an event held as part of the ongoing Kerala Literature Festival.
  • 'Oranweshananthinte Katha' was chosen by a panel comprising writer and literary critic K. C. Narayanan, Sunil P. Ilayidom and P. K. Rajashekharan from the 10 works which were shortlisted for the award.
  • Judging panel member P. K. Rajashekaran commented that the essence of the book brought back the memory of the most-intense political timeline in the modern history of Kerala.

Thiru Kumar Nadesan Chosen to Receive Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award

  • Thiru Kumar Nadesan was chosen to receive Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for his contribution towards community welfare. Nadesan had initiated a fundraiser to assist stranded Indian citizens in Sri Lanka during the Covid outbreak. He actively promotes business and cultural exchanges between India and Sri Lanka. Nadesan is the second member of Indian diaspora from Sri Lanka to receive the honour.
