Iconic Garisenda Tower in Italy May 'Collapse' Due to Excessive Leaning

The Garisenda Tower in Italy's Bologna, also known as the 'leaning tower', has been steady for nearly 1,000 years. But the tallest tower in the town is now at risk of collapsing due to excessive leaning.
The 150-foot tall tower has been leaning at an angle of 4 degrees since the 14th century when officials tried to remove the top of the building with the aim of stabilising it. The iconic Tower of Pisa leans at 5 degrees.
But now the tower is leaning excessively and has forced city officials to bring into action a civil protection plan.
A protective cordon will be erected to contain debris resulting from a possible collapse, to reduce the vulnerability of surrounding buildings and the exposure to the population, as well as blocking access to the off-limits areas.

The 10-day Hornbill Festival Gets Off to Colourful Start in Nagaland

The 10-day-long Grand Hornbill Festival of Nagaland got off to a spectacular start with the beating of Naga gongs, sounding of log drums, traditional war cry and gunshots echoing the picturesque Naga Heritage village Kisama.
Hornbill Festival, an annual tourism promotional event of the state government coined as the Festival of Festivals, is the coming together of the 18 major tribes and other sub-tribes of Nagaland showcasing the rich culture and tradition of the Nagas.
Germany, Colombia and USA, which are the three foreign partners of this year's festival, have brought their cultural troupes and rock bands.
Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan, who was the chief host of the festival, welcomed the foreign diplomats and visitors.

'Hump WWII' Museum Opens in Arunachal Pradesh

India paid tribute to the hundreds of US servicemen killed during World War II with the opening of a museum near its strategic border with China honouring the dramatic Himalayan airlift dubbed 'The Hump'.
Telling the story of how Allied pilots flew the perilous route to supply Chinese forces, it includes 80-year-old rusting wreckage and machine guns of some of the 590 planes that crashed into the jungle hills and jagged mountains of Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that it showcased the remnants of aircraft that went missing, as he inaugurated 'The Hump WWII Museum' alongside the US ambassador, Eric Garcetti in the town of Pasighat.

Angkor Wat Becomes the Eighth Wonder of the World

Angkor Wat, one of the finest examples of Khmer architecture in Cambodia, was named the eighth Wonder of the World.
Located in the northern part of Siem Reap, Angkor Wat is an integral part of Angkor Archaeological Park, housing the ruins of the Khmer Empire dating from the 9th to the 15th century. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, the complex includes not only Angkor Wat but also Angkor Thom and the Bayon Temple, known for their intricate carvings and magnificent sculptures.
Constructed under the rule of King Suryavarman II, Angkor Wat stands as the largest religious structure in the world. The city of Angkor once thrived as one of the most sophisticated and prosperous kingdoms of Southeast Asia.

Telangana Unveils the World's First 3D-Printed Temple

Telangana unveiled the world's first 3D-printed temple, a groundbreaking structure situated in Burugupally, Siddipet district. This innovative construction, achieved through a three-month 3D printing process, marked a significant technological milestone.
The temple spans 4,000 square feet and stands at a height of 35.5 feet. It comprises three distinct parts, each dedicated to a different deity:
Modak for Lord Ganesha: This sanctuary is shaped like a modak, a sweet dish that is traditionally offered to Lord Ganesha.
Square Shivalay for Lord Shankar: This sanctuary is square-shaped and dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Lotus-Shaped Sanctuary for Goddess Parvati: This sanctuary is shaped like a lotus flower and dedicated to Goddess Parvati.
