Noted Marathi Poet Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor Passes Away
Noted Marathi poet and lyricist Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor, popularly known as Na Dho Mahanor, passed away in Maharashtra's Pune. He was 81.
Born in 1942, Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award. He had also been a member of the state legislative council.
He penned several popular poems and songs, including "Jagala Prem Arpave", "Ganga Wahu De Nirmal" and "Divelaganichi Vel", and also wrote songs for Marathi movies like "Ek Hota Vidushak", "Jait Re Jait", "Sarja" and others.

Bollywood Art Director Nitin Desai Dies
Renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai has passed away at the age of 57.
The art director has also won National Film Award for Best Art Direction four times for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (1999), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2000), Lagaan (2002) and Devdas (2003).
The four-time National Award winner for art direction also created sets for Slumdog Millionaire and Kaun Banega Crorepati. Some of the most notable Bollywood movies that he worked for were Jodhaa Akbar, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

Congress Leader and Former Kerala Speaker Vakkom Purushothaman Passes Away
Veteran Congress leader and former Kerala Speaker Vakkom Purushothaman, who also served as Governor of Mizoram, passed away. He was 96.
Purushothaman, entered politics as a Students' Congress activist in 1946 and rose to become a state minister, Assembly Speaker, Governor of Mizoram and also Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during his career spanning nearly seven decades.
Purushothaman, who was known for his administrative skills and strictness, was a cabinet minister in the Kerala government from 1971-1977, 1980 to 1981 and 2004 to 2006.
He was the Speaker of the Kerala legislative assembly from 1982-1984 and then 2001-2004.

Goa Girl Sets Record by Climbing 3 Peaks above 6,000 Metres in 62.5 Hours
A 12-year-old mountaineer, Gunjan Pankaj Prabhu Narvekar from Goa set a new global record by successfully climbing three peaks above 6000 metres in the Markha Valley in the Ladakh region in just 62.5 hours. After achieving this commendable feat, Gunjan now aims for Mt Everest.
Gunjan, a class 8 student of Jnyan Vikas School in Goa, climbed and successfully summited three peaks, namely Mt Kang Yatse-II (6250 m), Mt Reponi Mallari-I (6097 m), and Mt Reponi Mallari –II (6113 m) mountain ranges located in the Markha Valley in the Ladakh Region.
She climbed the three 6000 m peaks in 49 hours (1st to 3rd Summit) and 62.5 hours (base camp to base camp), setting a new global record.

Norwegian Woman, Nepal Sherpa Summit 14 Super Peaks, Set Record
A Norwegian woman and her Nepali guide set the record for the fastest summit of all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre (26,000-feet) mountains.
Kristin Harila and Tenjin Sherpa completed the feat in three months and one day after summiting Pakistan's K2, the last peak on their quest.
The record reflects their unwavering determination, teamwork, and sheer tenacity throughout this monumental endeavour.
The pair surpassed Nepal-born British adventurer Nirmal Purja's record of six months and six days, set in 2019.
