SC Collegium Recommends Appointment of Justice Arun Palli as Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir H...

The Supreme Court Collegium recommended that Justice Arun Palli of Punjab and Haryana High Court be appointed as the Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
The decision came in view of current Chief Justice Tashi Rabtan's retirement on April 9.
Justice Palli served as the Additional Advocate General of Punjab from September 2004 to March 2007. Following this, he was designated a senior advocate in April 2007.
He was elevated to be a part of the Punjab and Haryana HC bench in December 2013.
Justice Palli has been serving as the Executive Chairman of the Haryana State Legal Service Authority since May 31, 2023. He was also nominated as a member of the National Legal Services Authority on October 31, 2023, for a period of two years.

Centre Clears Transfer of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma from Delhi to Calcutta High Court

The Central government approved the transfer of Delhi High Court Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma to the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Sharma joined the Delhi Judicial Service in 1992 and was promoted to the Higher Judicial Service in 2003. He has held key positions, including Registrar General of the Delhi High Court and Principal District & Sessions Judge, New Delhi.
A Fellow of the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute, he has also trained mediators under the Supreme Court's Mediation Project.

Senior Advocate Manoj Mishra New President of Orissa High Court Bar Association

Senior Advocate Manoj Mishra was elected as the President of Orissa High Court Bar Elections.
Advocate Sidharth Das won the Vice President post while Advocate Avijit Patnaik was elected the Secretary.
Advocate Padmalaya Mohapatra was elected as the Joint-Secretary of the Association, while the Assistant Secretary post was won by Advocate Abhijit Das and the Assistant Secretary (Library) post won by Advocate Sapan Kumar Pal.

Maninderjit Singh Bedi Appointed As New Advocate General of Punjab

Advocate Maninderjit Singh Bedi was appointed as new Advocate General (AG) of Punjab, after Senior Advocate Gurminder Singh resigned from the post.
Gurminder Singh is the third AG to resign from post in Punjab in three years of the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Senior Advocate N. Hariharan is President of Delhi High Court Bar Association

Senior Advocate N. Hariharan was elected as the President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA).
Senior Advocate N. Hariharan secured 2,967 votes and won by a margin of 87 votes. Senior Advocate Kirti Uppal came second with 2,880 votes.
An alumnus of Campus Law Centre Delhi University, Hariharan has over 38 years of practice. He was designated as Senior Advocate in 2013.
The other two candidates - Senior Advocate Abhijat garnered 1,429 votes and Senior Advocate Vivek Sood garnered 339 votes.

Centre Clears Appointment of Justice Harish Tandon as Orissa High Court Chief Justice

The Central government cleared the appointment of Justice Harish Tandon as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had earlier in March recommended the appointment of the Calcutta High Court judge as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.
Justice Harish Tandon was appointed as a judge of the Calcutta High Court in April 2010 and has served there since.
