Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra Topped Destinations for Foreign Tourists 2021
As per a report by Union Tourism Ministry, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu had the highest numbers of foreign tourist visitors, with 1.26 million and 1.23 million, respectively in 2021. The report titled 'India Tourism Statistics 2022' was released by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
As per the report, due to restrictions related to COVID-19, "the number of foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) in India during 2021 decreased to 1.52 million as compared to 2.74 million in 2020, registering a negative growth of 44.5 per cent".

Qutub Minar Most Visited Tourist Destination for Foreigners in April-June
The Qutub Minar was the most visited destination for foreign visitors between April and June.
The historic Red Fort was the second most visited destination for foreign visitors followed by Humayun's Tomb during the same period.
Qutub Minar, a UNSECO-recognised world heritage site in Delhi, received 3,81,249 Indian visitors and 9,063 foreign tourists between April and June, according to data shared by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Delhi Circle.
The Mughal-era Red Fort was visited by 5,696 foreign tourists during the three-month period. It received the highest number of domestic visitors at 8,13,434, more than twice the number at Qutub Minar.
