The Supreme Court agreed to hear the writ petition filed by Telangana Government to seek directions for Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to clear ten bills which were passed by the legislative assembly, which are awaiting her assent.
The matter was mentioned before bench of CJI D. Y. Chandrachud for urgent listing, saying that several bills are stuck.
The Government of Telangana said in the petition that it is constrained to move before the Supreme Court under its extraordinary jurisdiction under Article 32 of the Constitution of India in view of "a very prequent constitutional impasse created on account of the refusal of the Governor to act on several bills passed by the State Legislature.
Bar Council of India Permits Foreign Lawyers and Law Firms to Practice in India
In a move that could transform the legal landscape, the Bar Council of India (BCI) allowed foreign lawyers and law firms to practise law in India on a reciprocity basis.
The BCI, which had earlier opposed the move, notified the Rules for Registration and Regulation of Foreign Lawyers and Foreign Law Firms in India, 2022.
Although appearing in courts is prohibited, foreign law firms can set up offices in India to practise transactional and corporate work on reciprocal basis.
A foreign lawyer registered under rules shall be entitled to practise law in India in non-litigious matters only.
The foreign lawyers or foreign law firms shall not be permitted to appear before any courts, tribunals or other statutory or regulatory authorities. They shall be allowed to practise on transactional work/corporate work such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property matters, drafting of contracts and other related matters on reciprocal basis.

Supreme Court Refers Petitions Seeking Legal Recognition For Same-Sex Marriage to Constitution Bench
The Supreme Court referred to a five-judge Constitution Bench the petitions seeking legal recognition to same-sex marriages, saying the matter raises questions of "seminal importance".
In its order, a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, said that the submissions on the issue involve the interplay between constitutional rights and specific legislative enactments, including the Special Marriage Act, besides the rights of transgender couples.

As per the mandate of the 'Scheme of National Court Management Systems for enhancing timely justice, the Chief Justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud reconstituted the National Court Management Systems Committee (NCMSC).
The Supreme Court judge Justice Dipankar Datta will be the new chairperson of the 16-member committee, which also includes judges of four High Courts.
The four High Court judges are Justice Rajiv Shakdher of Delhi High Court, Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque of Kerala High Court, Justice Joymala Bagchi of Calcutta High Court and Justice Arun Bhansali of Rajasthan High Court.
Expert members of the committee are the Director of the Welingkar Institute of Management, Uday Salunkhe, and National Informatics Centre Deputy Director General R. S. Mani.

Delhi LG V. K. Saxena Approves Promotion of 108 Assistant Public Prosecutors
Delhi Lt. Governor V.K. Saxena approved the promotion of 108 Assistant Public Prosecutors as Additional Public Prosecutors.
With this, 108 out of 150 posts of Additional Public Prosecutors, lying vacant for long in the Directorate of Prosecution of Delhi government, were filled.
Simultaneously, the UPSC was asked to regularize these promotions at the earliest. The move is expected to ensure speedier disposal of cases pending with the Directorate of Prosecution.
