Aishwarya Rai Wins Best Actress at SIIMA 2024

At the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2024, Aishwarya Rai Bachhan stood out as she received the Best Actress (critics) Award for her role in Maniratnam's epic "Ponniyin Selvan 2".
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played dual roles in 'Ponniyin Selvan 2', portraying both Nandini and Mandakini Devi.
The two-part film, directed by Mani Ratnam, is an adaptation of the famous Tamil novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.
In addition to Aishwarya's win, her co-star Chiyaan Vikram also received a massive cheer, securing the Best Actor (Tamil) award at the ceremony. 'Ponniyin Selvan 2', the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster, continues the saga with its grand storytelling.

Indian Women's Contributions across UAE Honoured at Indian Women Dubai Awards 2024

The Indian Women Dubai Awards 2024 took place in Dubai, honouring the achievements of Indian women who have contributed in various fields of excellence across the UAE. This event celebrated empowerment, resilience, and unity, showcasing the impact of women who are shaping the community.
The awards featured over 30 categories, including new recognitions for achievements in technology and innovation, alongside traditional categories celebrating artists, entrepreneurs, influencers, and healthcare professionals.

It serves as a space for members to collaborate, grow, and unlock their full potential while fostering a strong sense of unity and support.

Rajbhasha Kirti Award to Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances

During Hindi Diwas Celebrations at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the Secretary of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), V. Srinivas, was awarded the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar by Home Minister, Amit Shah.
This award recognised DARPG's exemplary performance in promoting the use of Hindi as the Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs for 2023-24. DARPG's commitment to implementing the Official Language Policy is reflected in its various initiatives, including monitoring language compliance and increasing Hindi usage across its sections and offices.
The department formed a Hindi Advisory Committee and an Official Language Implementation Committee to monitor the use of Hindi, with quarterly meetings to review progress. Quarterly Progress Reports (QPRs) and annual evaluation reports on Hindi usage are regularly submitted to the Department of Official Language.

RINL Wins CII-GBC National Energy Leader Award for Sixth Consecutive Year

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, once again achieved excellence in energy efficiency and conservation by winning the prestigious National Energy Leader Award from the Confederation of Indian Industry – Green Business Centre (CII-GBC). This marks the sixth consecutive year that RINL has received this accolade, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to sustainable energy practices.
At a ceremony in Hyderabad, the award was presented to K Sudhakar, GM of the Energy Management Department (EMD-I/c), and his team by Milind Deora, Secretary of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India.
In addition to the National Energy Leader Award, RINL also secured the "Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award" for the eighth consecutive year. These acknowledgments reflect RINL's ongoing efforts in energy conservation through various initiatives.
Receiving the National Energy Leader Award for six consecutive years underscores RINL's pioneering approach to energy management. The company's continuous focus on enhancing energy efficiency, reducing carbon footprints, and embracing innovative technologies for sustainable growth sets a high standard within the industry.

Indian Origin Lecturer Wins the Prize for Literature in Singapore

An Indian-origin lecturer at Nanyang Technological University won the Singapore Literature Prize for English fiction for her short story – 'Nine Yard Sarees'.
Prasanthi Ram's debut work was published in late 2023.
The short story cycle is about generations of a Tamil Brahmin family dispersed across Singapore, Sydney, New York and Connecticut.
The Singapore Literature Prize a biennial award in Singapore recognises outstanding published works by Singaporean authors in any of the four official languages: Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil. The competition is organised by the Singapore Book Council (SBC) with the support of the National Art Council.

Komal Panda Wins James Dyson Award

Odisha-based Komal Panda is the national winner of India for the James Dyson Award 2024 for her innovation, Novocarry, a portable cooling carrier that helps keep insulin and other liquid medication under desired temperatures. The national winner will receive a prize money of approximately Rs. 5 lakh.
Novocarry's advanced cooling technology preserves insulin potency during long-distance travel, even in areas with limited electricity, and its powerful battery doubles as a charging station, making it a uniquely versatile solution. Komal's inspiration came from her father who used to struggle to store and transport insulin due to the lack of refrigeration at his office.
