Dr. Subhash Babu, First Indian Scientist to be Awarded Bailey K. Ashford Medal

Prominent Indian physician and scientist Dr. Subhash Babu was conferred the prestigious 2022 Bailey K. Ashford Medal, and 2022 Fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (FASTMH) award for his exemplary research work and contribution in tropical medicine.
The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) is the world's largest scientific organization in tropical medicine, and the medal is awarded annually to one or more mid-career-investigators for distinguished work in tropical medicine.
In the 82-year history of the award, it has never been awarded before to an Indian scientist or for work done at an Indian institution.
Dr. Subash Babu is the Scientific Director of the ICER (International Centre for Excellence in Research)- India Programme and is a leader in helminth infections and tuberculosis research, and he is the first Indian to receive both the Bailey K. Ashford Medal as well as the FASTMH award.

President Droupadi Murmu Presents National Florence Nightingale Awards 2021

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards (NFNA) for the year 2021 to the nursing professionals at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted in the year 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals to the society.

Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman 2022

The Government of Uttarakhand awarded the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman" award-2022 to NSA Ajit Kumar Doval, Prasoon Joshi, Late General Bipin Rawat (posthumously), Late Girish Chandra Tiwari 'Girda' (posthumously) and Late Viren Dangwal (Posthumously).
Every year, the government of Uttarakhand honours individuals with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman in recognition of their accomplishments in their various disciplines.
The award was constituted in 2021 by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It was constituted on November 9, 2021, on the occasion of the state's 21st anniversary.

Grama Vandi, from KSRTC, Receives Accolades on National Level

The city circular service of the Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) won the national 'Commentation Award in Urban Transport' in the category of 'City with the best Public Transport System'.
The 'Grama Vandi' launched by the KSRTC, in association with local self-government institutions in the State, also won the Award of Excellence in Urban Transport.
Projects designed to strengthen public transport in all urban areas of India were considered for the awards instituted by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. The awards presented by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan in the presence of Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore at the Urban Mobility India (UMI) conference in Kochi.

Carnatic Vocalist Aruna Sairam with Chevalier Award

Carnatic vocalist, composer, collaborator, humanitarian and speaker Aruna Sairam was honoured with the French government's highest honour- Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres award.
Its previous recipients from India have included Kamal Hassan, Soumitra Chatterjee and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Aruna Sairam was selected for this award not just for her singing prowess, but also for her contribution towards development of the Indo-France relationship.

Kerala Govt. Selects M. T. Vasudevan Nair for First 'Kerala Jyothi' Award

Malayalam literary stalwart and Jnanpith laureate M. T. Vasudevan Nair was selected for the first 'Kerala Jyothi' award instituted by the state government on the lines of the Padma awards to honour individuals who have made priceless contributions to the society.
Malayalam megastar Mammootty, Delhi-based Malayalam playwright Omcheri N N Pillai and former civil servant and social worker T Madhava Menon were selected for the first 'Kerala Prabha' awards.
Last year, the Kerala government had decided to institute the highest state-level awards, on the model of Padma awards.
It was decided to institute awards in three categories — 'Kerala Jyothi', 'Kerala Prabha' and 'Kerala Sree'.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Confers 'Friends of Liberation War' Honour on Edward M. Kennedy

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conferred the prestigious 'Friends of Liberation War' honour on former US Senator Edward M. Kennedy posthumously in Dhaka for his contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh. The honour was handed over to his son Edward M. Ted Kennedy Junior.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recalled the great contribution of Edward Kennedy Senior with gratitude. She said that Kennedy Senior took a bold stand against the genocide committed by Pakistan on innocent Bengali people despite the US government's role during the 1971 liberation war.
