Centre Stays All Tourism Activities at Sammed Shikharji in Jharkhand
The Centre halted tourism at Jharkhand's Parasnath Hill where the Jain religious site of Sammed Shikharji is located after protests by the minority community.
The decision came after the Environment Ministry received complaints from religious and environmental organisations about the alleged faulty implementation by the Jharkhand government of provisions in the notification of Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ) of Parasnath Wildlife Sanctuary. Jain groups said that negligence by Jharkhand authorities hurt their sentiments.
Sammed Shikhar falls in the eco-sensitive zone of Parasnath Wildlife Sanctuary and Topchanchi Wildlife Sanctuary. There is a list of prohibited activities that can't take place in and around the designated eco-sensitive area.

India Emerges as Nepal's Top Inbound Tourist Market in 2022
India emerged as Nepal's top inbound tourist market in 2022, as the key sector in the Himalayan nation is gradually witnessing recovery from the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to data published by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), of the total 614,148 foreign visitors from January to December 2022, 209,105 were from India, followed by the US with 77,009 and the UK 44,781.
Australia ranked fourth with 26,874 inbound visitors, while Bangladesh with 25,384 tourists ranked fifth in the list.
Tourism is one of the mainstays of the Nepalese economy. It is also a major source of foreign exchange and revenue. The tourism industry contributed about 6.7 per cent to Nepal's GDP.

Assam Grants Industry Status to its Tourism Sector
As the growth in the tourism sector is vital for socio-economic development in a state, the Assam State Cabinet led by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma approved the proposal for grant of industrial status to the tourism sector in the state.
It has been highlighted that with such industry status, fresh investments in tourism infrastructures permanent in nature will contribute towards rapid employment generation, public-private partnership and infrastructure development.
With the grant of industry status to the tourism sector, now, restaurants, cafeterias, health clubs, spas and wellness centres among others are eligible for incentives under the industrial policy. This move will further encourage and boost private investment in the above areas of the tourism sector.

IndiGo Airline Ranked Number One in On-time Performance in November
IndiGo took the No. 1 spot in on-time performance (OTP) in November, after seven months. It dislodged Air India, which was second.
IndiGo's improvement in OTP came at a time when the Tata Group is working towards consolidating its four airlines while committing themselves to improving services overall in line with its target of achieving 30% market share in the next few years.
