IndiGo Ranks among Worst Airlines Globally in AirHelp 2024 Report

India's largest airline IndiGo was listed among the world's worst airlines by European air passenger claims processing and facilitating agency AirHelp, which ranked the airline at the 103rd spot out of a total of 109 airlines in the rankings. Reacting to the AirHelp rankings, IndiGo has refuted the survey and even questioned its credibility.
AirHelp releases an annual ranking of international airlines and airports. The rankings for airlines are based on three criteria — on-time performance, customer opinion, and processing of compensation claims. According to AirHelp, the three criteria contribute to the airline's score in equal measure, or 33.33 per cent each.
Brussels Airlines was ranked at the pole position, followed by Qatar Airways, and United Airlines with scores of 8.12, 8.11, and 8.04, respectively.

UNESCO Declares West Bengal a Top Heritage Tourism Destination

West Bengal's emphasis on heritage tourism has yielded notable results. The state's concerted efforts to develop religious sites like the Dakshineshwar and Kalighat temples are transforming it into a hub for pilgrims and heritage tourists. Additionally, the under-construction Jagannath temple at Digha is expected to attract even more devotees upon completion.

Asia's first water transport service, 'Uber Shikara', is now available in J&K's picturesque Dal Lake.
Uber rolled out Asia's first water transport service with shikara bookings on its app.
Tourists visiting the Dal Lake will now enjoy a hassle-free travel experience with the launch of Uber's first water transport service 'Uber Shikara'.
This innovative initiative aims to combine technology with tradition allowing travellers to pre-book shikara rides through the popular ride-hailing app.
The service was launched by Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh.

Tourism Ministry Sanctions Funds for Development of 40 Lesser-known Sites

The Union Ministry of Tourism approved 40 projects under the Special Assistance to States/Union Territories for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, designed to develop lesser-known destinations into iconic tourist sites. The projects, costing Rs. 3295.76 crore, span 23 states and aim to enhance tourism, create employment opportunities, and boost local economies, Union minister for tourism and culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, said.
As part of the SASCI scheme, 40 sites were identified by the Centre, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum in Ponda, Goa, Loktak lake experience in Manipur, and the international convention centre for MICE in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The implementation of the projects will be handled by the respective state governments that will also oversee the operation and management of the infrastructure.
