Qutub Minar Most Visited Tourist Destination for Foreigners in April-June

  • The Qutub Minar was the most visited destination for foreign visitors between April and June.
  • The historic Red Fort was the second most visited destination for foreign visitors followed by Humayun's Tomb during the same period.
  • Qutub Minar, a UNSECO-recognised world heritage site in Delhi, received 3,81,249 Indian visitors and 9,063 foreign tourists between April and June, according to data shared by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Delhi Circle.
  • The Mughal-era Red Fort was visited by 5,696 foreign tourists during the three-month period. It received the highest number of domestic visitors at 8,13,434, more than twice the number at Qutub Minar.
  • Humayun's Tomb received 5,139 foreign tourists.

Uttarakhand Awarded for Adventure Tourism & All Round Development of Tourism

  • Uttarakhand received the first prize in two categories, for the best adventure tourism destination and all-around development of tourism from the Ministry of Tourism. The State's Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj received the awards from Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar during the presentation of the National Tourism Awards 2018-19 in New Delhi.

The Virtual Conference 'SymphoNE' was organised by the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region. North East India is blessed with amazing food, culture, stunning landscapes, heritage and architecture and ranks among the most beautiful places on the earth. But, there are grand opportunities that can be filled to boost Tourism Sector in the Region.
  • SymphoNE aims to develop a one-stop solution to eliminate all obstacles that are being faced by the tourists, and the tour operators while carrying out the operations for the visitors while solving logistics & infrastructural facilities, lack of awareness about the locations among the tourist and spreading necessary information among the people, and marketing/promotional activities.

Bhutan Reopens to those Willing to Pay $200 per Day Visitor Tax

  • One of the world's most remote and exotic travel destinations, Bhutan, reopened its borders to tourists, but with a catch: a $200-per-night tax.
  • The tiny Himalayan kingdom of fewer than 800,000 people, sandwiched between China and India, increased its Sustainable Development Fee from $65 a night as part of a "renewed focus of sustainability" in the government's strategy to attract "high value, low volume" tourism.
  • The nation has long shunned mass tourism.

Gujarat Government Unveils Cinematic Tourism Policy

  • In order to market Gujarat as a potential destination for film and documentary makers from Bollywood, Hollywood and regional industries Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the state's maiden "Cinematic Tourism Policy 2022-27".
  • Gujarat for first time declared Cinematic Tourism Policy. This is to ensure that filmmakers do not face any difficulties and also get financial support.
  • At the event four MoUs were signed worth Rs. 1,022 crore with various entities which included Devgan's firm NY Cinemas LLP.
  • Panorama Studios International Ltd, Laxmi Film Laboratories and Studios Pvt Ltd, and Bollywood Hub were among those who inked an agreement with the state government.
