IIM Sambalpur Becomes First IIM to Introduce AI in Classrooms as Faculty
IIM Sambalpur announced the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms, positioning itself as the first IIM in the country to integrate AI as faculty.
The announcement was made at an event to celebrate its 10th Foundation Day, marking a decade of innovation and excellence in management education.
During the event, Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, highlighted the significant role that AI will play in reshaping the learning environment.
"With AI, the role of teachers will shift from mere teaching to creating and facilitating learning experiences. This strategic move aims to enhance the quality of education and engage students in a more dynamic way.
IIM Lucknow, IIT Kanpur Partner to Offer PG Programme in Healthcare Management
The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to launch a joint postgraduate program in Healthcare Management. This collaboration aims to address the growing need for leadership in the healthcare industry by integrating management principles with advanced medical technology.
The agreement was signed by Professor Archana Shukla, Director, IIM Lucknow, and Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, in the presence of senior faculty members. Notable attendees from IIM Lucknow included Professor Kshitij Awasthi, Associate Professor.
The Postgraduate Programme in Healthcare Management will serve professionals from various fields, including healthcare workers and doctors in public hospitals. The course is designed to blend expertise in medical technology with business administration, empowering participants to spearhead advancements in healthcare delivery and innovation.

IIT Roorkee Strengthens Global Ties with Uzbekistan
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) and Samarkand State University (SamSU) took a significant step in Indo-Uzbek academic collaboration by signing two major agreements. These include a Letter of Intent to establish a Joint Master's Degree Programme (JMDP) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster research and collaboration in hydrology, environmental science, sustainable energy, and SDGs.
The agreements were signed by Professor Khalmuradov Rustam Ibragimovich, Rector of SamSU, and Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, alongside key faculty members from both universities.
The partnership sets a benchmark for Indo-Uzbek educational collaborations and is expected to enhance the global standing of both institutions significantly.

Poem on National War Memorial, Veer Abdul Hameed Chapter Added to Class 6 NCERT
Developed in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, a poem titled 'National War Memorial' and a chapter titled 'Veer Abdul Hameed - were included in the NCERT curriculum of Class 6 from this year (2024). This initiative, jointly undertaken by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, is to teach the values of patriotism, devotion to duty and courage & sacrifice among school children and youth participation in nation-building.
The poem "National War Memorial' is to appreciate the spirit behind it. The chapter titled 'Veer Abdul Hameed' honours the Braveheart CQMH Abdul Hameed who made a supreme sacrifice fighting for the country during the India-Pakistan war of 1965 and was awarded the country's highest gallantry award, the Param Veer Chakra (posthumously).
IIT Madras Launches Diabetes Research Centre
The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) launched a new research centre on Diabetes through the support of funding from IIT Madras Distinguished Alumnus Awardee Subramonian Shankar (1971 BTech – Electrical Engineering).
This centre has been established to drive advancements in diabetes research and develop innovative technologies to address the most pressing challenges in diabetes care and associated complications.
This center will support 15 PhD students over the coming years as 'Shankar Fellows', enabling them to undertake cutting-edge research. The new centre will also foster product development, potential start-ups, and commercialisation efforts aimed at transforming diabetes management and treatment.
Odisha Government to Set Up Medical Colleges in All Districts
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reiterated his government's dedication to opening a medical college in each of the state's 30 districts. Speaking at the annual conference of the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) in Balasore, Majhi emphasised the priority of filling vacant doctor positions across the state.
The chief minister also urged the medical community to work with dedication and maintain the public's trust in the healthcare system.
Two Indian Schools among Finalists for World's Best School Prizes 2024
Two Indian schools, Ryan International School from New Delhi and CM RISE School Vinoba from Madhya Pradesh, were announced as finalists for the prestigious World's Best School Prizes 2024. The awards, founded by London-based T4 Education in collaboration with Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation, honour exceptional contributions to education worldwide. The winners will share a prize fund of USD 50,000.
Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, is a top contender in the "Environmental Action" category for its innovative efforts to combat water scarcity and pollution through projects like hydroponics and biogas plants. The school's environmental initiatives have gained national recognition, including from India's Ministry of Environment.
CM RISE School Vinoba, Ratlam, has been named a finalist in the "Innovation" category. Originally established for tribal girls in an urban slum, the school has transformed public education by integrating local festivals and innovative sports programs, creating a meaningful impact on student learning.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao, popularly known as ANR, was an Indian actor and film producer, primarily known for his works in Telugu cinema. Born in present-day Andhra Pradesh, he worked in the film industry from 1941 till 2014, and was awarded Padma Shri in 1968, Padma Bhushan in 1988, Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1990, and Padma Vibhushan in 2011.
