Russia Launches Nuclear Submarine Armed With 'Unstoppable' Zircon Hypersonic Missile
Russia launched the Perm, its first nuclear submarine equipped with the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile, which is reportedly impossible to intercept. The Perm, part of the Yasen-M class, will be commissioned into the Pacific Fleet next year. President Vladimir Putin hailed the launch as a milestone event, emphasising Russia's continued efforts to strengthen its naval capabilities. The Zircon missile, known for its Mach 8 speed and radar-evading plasma cloud, poses a major challenge to existing air defense systems.

Indian Navy's Maiden Initiative of IOS Sagar Concludes its Harbour and Sea Training Phase at Kochi
Indian Navy's maiden initiative of Indian Ocean Ship Sagar (IOS Sagar) concluded its harbour and sea training phase at Southern Naval Command, Kochi.
Forty-four International trainees of nine friendly foreign countries underwent a specially curated training capsule ranging from basic seamanship activities to state-of-the-art simulator training. Truly signifying the motto of 'One Ocean One Mission', the international crew was trained together on various facets of Communication skills, Firefighting and Damage Control drills, Visit Board Search & Seize (VBSS) procedures and finer aspects of Bridgemanship.

The 7th India-Japan Maritime Affairs Dialogue
The 7th India-Japan Maritime Affairs Dialogue was held in the Japanese capital with both sides discussing ways to sustain a secure maritime environment conducive for inclusive growth and global well-being.
The Indian delegation was led by Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Japanese delegation by Kashiwabara Yutaka, Deputy Director-General and Deputy Assistant Minister, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau.
Both countries reviewed ongoing cooperation initiatives in the maritime domain and avenues of reinforcing international and regional mechanisms for comprehensive maritime security. They agreed to strengthen their shared efforts in areas such as Maritime domain awareness, countering Illicit Maritime Activities (IMA), capability development and capacity building activities.

Fourth Edition of India-US Naval Exercise Tiger Triumph
The Fourth edition of the bilateral Tri-Service India-US Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise, Tiger Triumph, is taking place on the Eastern Seaboard from April 1 to 13, as per the Indian Navy.
The Indian Navy noted that the exercise aims to develop interoperability for conducting HADR operations and formulating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to establish a Combined Coordination Center (CCC) that would enable rapid and smooth coordination between Indian and US Joint Task Forces (JTF) during exercises, crises, and contingencies.
As per the Indian Navy, the Harbour Phase is being held at Visakhapatnam from April 1-7.
Upon the completion of the Harbour Phase, the ships with troops embarked would sail for a sea phase and undertake maritime, amphibious and HADR operations off Kakinada.

India and Russia Conduct 14th Edition of Maritime Bilateral Exercise - INDRA 2025
India and Russia are conducting the 14th edition of the bilateral naval exercise, INDRA 2025, from March 28 to April 2, 2025, off the coast of Chennai and in the Bay of Bengal. Since its inception in 2003, Exercise INDRA has been a symbol of the strategic partnership between the Indian Navy and Russian Navy, aimed at improving naval interoperability and operational coordination. The exercise is taking place in two phases: the Harbour Phase (March 28-30) in Chennai and the Sea Phase (March 31-April 2) in the Bay of Bengal. It involves advanced naval drills, live weapon firings, and cooperative engagements to strengthen maritime cooperation and security.
