President Murmu Graces Award Ceremony of 64th National Exhibition of Art
President Droupadi Murmu, in September 2025, attended the award ceremony of the 64th National Exhibition of Art, organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi, in New Delhi.
Congratulating the award winners, the President expressed confidence that their work would inspire countless other artists. She highlighted that, in Indian tradition, art has always been regarded as a spiritual practice and a medium that enriches cultural heritage while fostering a more sensitive society.
President Murmu praised the creativity and imagination of artists, noting that their works are helping to present the image of a "new India." She emphasised that artists invest significant time, energy, and resources into their creations, and called for ensuring fair prices for artworks to encourage artists and those aspiring to take up art as a profession.
Appreciating Lalit Kala Akademi's efforts to promote the sale of artworks, the President said this would provide financial support to artists and strengthen the nation's creative economy. She urged art lovers to not only appreciate art but also purchase and display it, reinforcing India's identity as both an economic and cultural power.

UK PM Keir Starmer Honoured with 'Living Bridge' Award for India-UK FTA
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer awarded the prestigious 'Living Bridge' honour for his instrumental role in fostering deeper India-UK relations and successfully concluding the long-awaited India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The award, presented at a ceremony in the House of Lords in London in September 2025, recognises individuals and organisations who significantly contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.
The award was accepted on Starmer's behalf by Seema Malhotra, Britain's Indian-origin Minister for the Indo-Pacific in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Organised annually by the India Business Group (IBG), the Living Bridge Awards spotlight those who serve as symbolic 'living bridges' between India and the UK, enhancing collaboration in areas like trade, education, culture, and diplomacy.
This year marks the fourth edition of the awards.

Gram Panchayats Win National e-Governance Awards 2025 for Digital Innovation
Marking a historic moment in India's digital governance journey, Gram Panchayats were awarded for the first time under a dedicated category at the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2025. President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi.
The Best Feature Film Award was given to the Hindi Movie '12th Fail', while the Best Hindi Film Award was presented to the Hindi Movie 'Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery'.
National Film Awards in the Best Actor category was conferred to actor Shah Rukh Khan for his film Jawan and actor Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail.
Legendary actor, director, and producer Mohanlal was also conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2023.
Ousmane Dembele, Aitana Bonmati win Ballon d'Or Awards in Paris
Ousmane Dembele was named the world's best player of the season as he claimed the Ballon d'Or on a night of triumph for his Paris St Germain club, while Barcelona's Aitana Bonmati, a serial trophy winner, claimed the women's award on Monday.
The 28-year-old France forward Dembele, who needed time and the guidance of PSG coach Luis Enrique to fulfill his potential as he inspired the capital club to their first Champions League title last season, became the sixth French player to lift the award and the first since Karim Benzema in 2022.
He beat Spain and Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, with his PSG teammate Vitinha taking third place.
