IIT Madras Collaborates with Cargill to Provide Scholarships for BS Degree
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras students will now be able to get a full scholarship to pursue BS in Data Science Applications. The scholarship was launched in partnership with Cargill, a US-global food and agriculture corporation.
The Cargill Scholarship will allow approximately 100 students from low-income families to pursue their ambition of attending IIT Madras.
The IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science and Applications is a one-of-a-kind programme that provides students with several entrance and exit choices, allowing them to exit with a certificate, diploma, or degree. This programme includes four levels, and a student must successfully finish all four levels to get the BS Degree in Data Science and Applications degree.

IIT Madras to Receive Grant Worth Rs. 242 crore
IIT Madras announced that the institute was chosen for researching on Lab Grown Diamonds. The institute will received a grant worth Rs. 242 crore for research. This grant was given to IIT Madras a day after the Union Minister for Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman announced that one IIT will be chosen to conduct research on Lab Grown Diamonds.
The institute will receive this grant over a period of five years to undertake research on lab grown diamonds (LGD). This research will be focused on driving indigenisation of the LGD manufacturing process.

Mission to Eliminate Sickle Cell Anaemia by 2047
The government will work in a mission mode to eliminate sickle cell anaemia by 2047, announced Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2023-24 in the Parliament.
The mission will entail awareness creation, universal screening of seven crore people in the 0-40 years age group in affected tribal areas and counselling through collaborative efforts of central ministries and state governments.
Austrade, CII Sign MoU on Vocational Education, Training Programmes
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission or Austrade, Australian Government agency signed an MoU with Confederation of Indian Industry, CII for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
The MoU signed between these two organisations will focus on Australian training standards and delivery in sectors ranging across automotive, allied health, mining, IT, cyber security, renewable energy, logistics, supply chain and water management.
The flagship programme by Australian government named, 'Australia-India Future Skills Initiative' will support India's workforce and skills development through partnerships with Australian vocational education, training and skills providers.

IGNOU Launches PG Diploma in Journalism
The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) school of Journalism and New Media Studies launched a new Post Graduate (PG) diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication. The diploma is available in the online mode and in three languages — English, Hindi and Tamil.
Bachelor's degree in any discipline is mandatory to be eligible for this diploma programme. The duration of the course is one year.

IIM Ahmedabad Ranks Top MBA College in India
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, is the best college to pursue the Master of Business Administration (MBA) course in India, according to the latest ranking released by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF). IIM Ahmedabad is followed by IIM Bengaluru and IIM Kolkata at second and third spots, respectively. The top three have remained unchanged since 2022.
The IIM, Lucknow, jumped one place to fourth rank from fifth in 2022.
The ranking was based on seven parameters: research, teaching-learning resources pedagogy, industry income and integration, placement performance, future orientation, external perception and international outlook, and placement strategies and support.
'Jeevan Vidya Shivir' Organized for Delhi Govt. School Teachers
Delhi State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) organized a 5-day 'Jeevan Vidya Shivir' for the teachers of Delhi government schools at Thyagaraja stadium. About 4,000 teachers from Delhi government schools participated in this workshop between January 28, 2023 to February 1, 2023.
