Governor is the chancellor of public universities in the state.
The Governor informed that Dr. Sanjay Bhave was appointed as the new VC of Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli.

NIRF 2023 (Dental Colleges): Top 4 Institutes Retain Their Spots (9)
In the list of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 released by the Ministry of Education, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai retained its first rank under the dental college category scoring 84.08 points, up from 82.30 points scored in 2022.
Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal retained the second spot it secured in 2022. In 2023, the college scored 77.51 points.
The third position was secured by Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, the same as last year. This year (2023), the college got a score of 73.08.
The fourth spot was bagged by Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, Delhi for the third consecutive year.
AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru came fifth. SRM Dental College, Chennai came sixth. The seventh position was secured by Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research.

All UG Degree Courses in Kerala to Shift to 4-year Mode from 2024-25
Undergraduate degree courses in the state will transition from the current three-year programme to a four-year programme starting from the 2024-25 academic year, Higher Education Minister R Bindu said. The universities have already developed four-year courses will have the option to offer them on an experimental basis from the current academic year onwards.
Under the new system, students will have the choice to exit at the end of the third year and receive a degree certificate. The fourth year will primarily focus on internships and research activities. Students who complete the entire four-year course will be awarded an honours degree.
NIRF Ranking 2023: IIM Kashipur among Top 20 Indian Management Schools in India
IIM Kashipur, a renowned Indian management institute, achieved a remarkable feat by securing the 19th rank among the top 50 Management Institutes/Colleges in India in the recently released National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2023 ranking by the Ministry of Education.
In the 2023 year's rankings, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmadabad claimed the top spot, followed by IIM Bangalore in second place, and IIM Kozhikode in third place. Notably, the competition was intense, with more than 8,600 colleges vying for positions in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for 2023.

NIRF 2023: NLSIU Bengaluru Best Law School in Country
Like last year, the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru grabbed the top spot under the best performing law colleges category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 released by the Ministry of Education.
This year (2023), the NLSIU scored 80.52 points, an improvement from 78.00 points in 2022. The second position was secured by National Law University, New Delhi, the same as previous year. The university scored 73.91 points.
Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad secured the third spot with 73.76 points. In 2022, the university was at the fourth position. The number 4 rank was bagged by West Bengal National University of Juridicial Sciences, Kolkata with 69.34 points, up from the fifth position in 2022.

Vikram Patel to Lead Harvard Medical School's Global Health Department
India-born Vikram Patel, a renowned researcher and mental health expert, was appointed as the new chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Patel, currently serving as the Pershing Square Professor of Global Health at the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School, will assume his new role on September 1.
IIT-Madras, IISc Top Educational Institutes in the Country: NIRF Rankings 2023 (Overall Category)
Continuing its reign as the best higher education institution in the country, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Madras secured the top spot for the fifth consecutive year in the latest national rankings released by the Minister of State for Education, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.
The latest edition of the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) revealed no major upsets in terms of the results, with the IITs continuing their dominance in most categories. IIT-Madras also bagged the first position in engineering for the eighth year in a row and was assessed as the second-best research institution in the country, narrowly missing the top spot by 2.2 marks, which was claimed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru.
Interestingly, IISc, which the QS World University Rankings adjudged as the top research university globally, ahead of Harvard, Princeton University and MIT, was edged out to the second position in the 'overall' category for the fifth consecutive year. A closer look at the score breakdown showed IISc (with 83.09 marks) fell behind IIT-Madras (86.69 marks) on parameters such as student strength, online education, published and granted patents, and the number of economically and socially deprived students.
Ranks third to tenth in the 'overall' category were secured by IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur, All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Roorkee, IIT-Guwahati and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The top 10 institutions under this category were largely consistent with last year's (2022) rankings, with only AIIMS gaining three positions and moving up from Rank 9 to Rank 6 this year (2023).
The top five medical colleges in the ranking were All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, Christian Medical College, Tamil Nadu, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Karnataka and Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry.
