India Wins Excellence in Family Planning Leadership (EXCELL) Award
India became the only country to receive the Leadership in Family Planning (EXCELL) Awards 2022 in the 'country category' at the International Conference on Family Planning held in Thailand. India's efforts in improving family planning demonstrated the progress the country made toward achieving the SDG targets on women and maternal health.
The award recognises and applauds India's achievements in ensuring increased access.
Adoption of modern contraceptive methods and significantly reducing the unmet needs for family planning.
India made progress in improving access as well as in the adoption of modern contraceptive methods enabling couples to make informed choices about family planning.
The overall Contraceptive Prevalence Rate increased substantially from 54 per cent to 67 per cent in the country.
Haryana Launches Awards to Promote Good Governance
The Haryana government introduced an award scheme to promote good governance and reward innovative human resources who make extraordinary efforts at workplace.
Officials who have done innovative work in economic, infrastructure and social sector or state flagship programmes can apply for awards under the Haryana Good Governance Award Scheme, 2022 (Haryana Sushasan Puraskaar Yojana, 2022).
The good governance awards would be given at the state and district levels.
For the state level award, the winning individual or team will get a first prize of Rs. 51,000 in cash, second prize of Rs. 31,000 and third prize of Rs. 21,000. At the district level, the first prize will be a cash reward of Rs. 31,000, the second prize of Rs. 21,000 and the third prize of Rs. 11,000. A trophy, and an appreciation certificate signed by the Chief Minister (whose copy will be kept in the service book of the employee) will also be given.
National Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22
The Ministry of Education announced that 39 schools from across the nation received the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar for the 2021–22 academic year.
Of the 8.23 lakh entries, 28 government and aided institutions and 11 private schools were chosen. Three Kendriya Vidyalayas, one Navodaya Vidyalaya, and two Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas are among the honoured schools.
In addition to recognising schools that have done outstanding work in the areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene, the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar also serves as a benchmark and road map for schools to continue making improvements.
Schools were evaluated for the award based on six broad criteria: Covid-19 (preparedness and response), hand washing with soap, toilets, operation and maintenance, behavioural change, and water.

Sumeet Anand Conferred with the Legion d'Honneur
Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to India, conferred the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) on Sumeet Anand, Founder, IndSight Growth Partners, and President of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in Mumbai.
The highest French civilian award came in recognition of Sumeet Anand's outstanding contributions in the fields of business and industry, as well as promoting Indo-French business and education ties. Sumeet Anand, one of India's leading corporate strategy advisors, especially on Indo-French cross-investments, has played a pivotal role in the development of trade and investment between India and France. He is a key actor in building bridges between industry leaders and business enterprises of France and India.

Rane Group Chairman, L. Ganesh Conferred with Deming Award
Rane Group Chairman L. Ganesh was conferred with the prestigious Deming Award for outstanding contribution in dissemination and promotion (overseas) of total quality management (TQM).
He is the third Indian and fifth globally to be bestowed with this prestigious award for his contributions.
The Deming Distinguished Service Award is an award given to individuals who had made outstanding contribution in the dissemination and promotion of TQM (whose primary activities are outside Japan). The winner receives the Deming medal with a Certificate of Merit from the Deming Prize Committee.
Established in 1951, the award was instituted to pay tribute to W. Edwards Deming, who made a significant contribution to the spread of statistical quality control in Japan, following World War II.
Infosys Science Foundation Announces Infosys Prize 2022
The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) announced the winners of the Infosys Prize 2022 in six categories. These categories include Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences. The prize for each category comprises a gold medal, a citation, and a prize purse of $100,000 (or its equivalent in rupees).
The Infosys Prize focuses on the achievements of the recipients and awards them for their contributions to science and research impacting India.
The Infosys Prize 2022 in Engineering and Computer Science was awarded to Suman Chakraborty, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Dean of Research and Development, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
The Infosys Prize 2022 in Life Sciences was awarded to Vidita Vaidya, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.
The Infosys Prize 2022 in Mathematical Sciences was awarded to Mahesh Kakde, Professor of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
The Infosys Prize 2022 in Physical Sciences was awarded to Nissim Kanekar, Professor, National Centre for Radio Astronomy, Pune.
The Infosys Prize 2022 in Social Sciences was awarded to Rohini Pande, Henry J. Heinz II Professor of Economics and Director, Economic Growth Center, Yale University.
The Infosys Prize 2022 in Humanities was awarded to Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.

NMDC Sweeps PRCI Excellence Awards 2022
Mining major NMDC bagged a clutch of awards, including the Champion of Champions Award, at the 16th PRCI Global Communication Conclave 2022.
It won 14 Corporate Communication Excellence Awards. The awards were presented at the Global Communication Conclave organised by Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) in Kolkata.
The Gold awards it won were for Most Resilient Company of the Year; Internal Communication Campaign, Corporate Brochure; Best PSE Implementing CSR. Indian-origin Sikh Wins NSW Australian of the Year Award
Amar Singh an Indian-origin Sikh volunteer, who experienced ethnic slurs because of his beard and turban, was honoured along with three others with the prestigious 2023 New South Wales Australian of the Year Award for supporting the community during floods, bushfires, drought and the pandemic.
The national award honoured the achievements of community members, while emphasising the importance of service to the nation of Australia.
Amar Singh, a Sikh, founded the "Turbans 4 Australia" seven years ago, a charity organisation that works towards supporting the displaced and the vulnerable impacted by natural calamities.
Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Announces National Sports Awards 2022
Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced the National Sports Awards 2022. The awardees will receive their awards from the President of India at a specially organized function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 30th November, 2022.
Based on the recommendations of the Committee and after due scrutiny, Government has decided to confer awards upon the following sportspersons, coaches and entities.
This year, for the first time, applications were invited only online and sportspersons/coaches/entities were permitted to self-apply through a dedicated portal.
A large number of nominations were received for these awards this year, which were considered by the Selection Committee headed by Justice A. M. Khanwilkar, Retd. Judge, Supreme Court of India and consisting members from eminent sportspersons, persons having experience in sports journalism and sports administrators.
