New Delhi SAH-BHAGITA' Scheme

  • Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena launched a SAH-BHAGITA scheme to increase the involvement of the Residential Welfare Association (RWAs) in optimal tax collection and waste management systems.
  • Under this scheme, the RWAs will be incentivised for their efforts to improve efficiency and compliance in tax collection. The RWAs, on achieving 90% tax collection from the total number of properties in their societies, can recommend development work to the tune of 10% of the tax collection subject to a ceiling of Rs. 1 lakh in their areas.

Tripura Launches Scheme 'Earn with Learn'

  • The Tripura government launched a new scheme 'Earn with Learn' as a part of the 'Vidyalay Chalo Abhiyan' programme to bring back the dropout students to schools. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that about 8,000 students between the age group of 6 and 14 in the state dropped out of schools during the Covid-19.
  • It was decided to take up this project to get all these students into school and bring them back into the mainstream of education. The minister further said that in the implementation of this project, the third-year students of all the colleges will be used to bring the students, who left schools during the pandemic.

Ministry of Women and Child Development Issues Guidelines for Mission Vatsalya Scheme

  • The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme "Mission Vatsalya" erstwhile Child Protection Services (CPS) Scheme, since 2009-10 for the welfare and rehabilitation of children. The objective of Mission Vatsalya is to secure a healthy and happy childhood for each and every child in India, ensure opportunities to enable them to discover their full potential and assist them in flourishing in all respects, in a sustained manner, foster a sensitive, supportive and synchronized ecosystem for development of children, assist States/UTs in delivering the mandate of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and achieve the SDG goals. Mission Vatsalya promotes family-based non-institutional care of children in difficult circumstances based on the principle of institutionalization of children as a measure of last resort.
  • Components under Mission Vatsalya include- Improve functioning of statutory bodies; Strengthen service delivery structures; Upscale institutional care/services; Encourage non-institutional community-based care; emergency outreach services; Training and capacity building.
  • All the States/UTs have signed the Memorandum of Undertaking with the Ministry for implementation of the Scheme.

Himachal CM Launches 'Naari Ko Naman' Scheme

  • In the run up to the Himachal Pradesh assembly polls, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched the Nari Ko Naman Scheme, under which women travelling in state buses will be given a 50% discount.
  • The CM also reduced the minimum bus fare from Rs. 7 to Rs. 5. Presiding over a state-level function at Dharamshala, the administrative headquarters of electorally significant Kangra, the chief minister announced that 25 posts of women drivers will be filled for running 'ride with pride' Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) taxis.

Karnataka Launches 'Kashi Yatra' Scheme

  • The BJP-led government in Karnataka launched the 'Kashi Yatra' project which offers around 30,000 pilgrims cash assistance of Rs. 5,000 each to take up a pilgrimage to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
  • For this scheme, the government will be using funds of up to Rs. 7 crore from the accounts head of 'Assistance to Manasa Sarovara Pilgrims' which was announced in the chief minister's budget speech for the financial year.
