Indian Scientists Honored at Global Space Conference

Two Indian space scientists Prahlad Chandra Agrawal and Anil Bhardwaj, received the honour at the Global Space Conference from the prestigious organization Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) conference in Busan.
With the collaboration of COSPAR and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the medals for the world's first scientific body dedicated to space science research recognized their outstanding contributions.
A senior space scientist Prahlad Chandra Agrawal is a retired professor at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
He has received the Harrie Massey Award at the 45th COSPAR Scientific Assembly for their remarkable contribution to space research. The award of Agarwal was presented with medals and citations that included in naming of a minor planet after him as part of the award.

INS Delhi Gets Best Ship of Eastern Fleet Award

INS Delhi was adjudged the Best Ship of the Eastern Fleet at the annual 'Fleet Awards Function-2024' held in Visakhapatnam.
The event was held to acknowledge and celebrate the operational achievements of the Eastern Fleet during the pase year.
INS Kavaratti was given the award for the Best Ship in Corvettes/ OPVs/ LSTs while INS Shivalik, INS Sumedha and INS Sumitra were adjudged the most spirited ships of the Sunrise Fleet while carrying out a wide variety of challenging missions over the last one year.
Vice-Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command was the Chief Guest for the event which was hosted by Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.

Indian Sand Artist Sudarshan Bags Gold Medal In International Sand Sculpture Championship

Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, won the Golden Sand Master award at an international championship in Russia. The event, International Sand Sculpture Championship was organised in St Petersburg at the iconic Peter and Paul Fortress. The world's 21 master sculptors participated in the event.
Sudarsan Pattnaik is an Indian sand artist from Puri, Odisha. In 2014, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, for his seashore sand arts.
He won the People's Choice Award at Sand Sculpting World Cup 2014 at Atlantic City, US. He is alos the first Indian to win the Italian Sand Art Award, 2019, at the International Scorrano Sand Nativity event held in Lecce, Italy from 13 to 17 November.

International Honour for Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming

The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) program, led by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, was awarded the prestigious Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity 2024. The announcement was made by Angela Merkel, chair of the Jury and former Federal Chancellor of Germany, during a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal. The event was attended by dignitaries including the President of Portugal and other government officials, alongside experts from around the world.
The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF), a state-wide program of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, was recognised for its significant contributions to global food security, climate resilience, and ecosystem protection. This initiative specifically supports smallholder farmers, with a focus on empowering predominantly women farmers.

Indian Ship Captain, Crew Win "Exceptional Bravery" Awards For Red Sea Rescue Mission

Captain Avhilash Rawat and his crew of an oil tanker were named among the winners of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) 2024 Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea for their "extraordinary courage" shown in a Red Sea rescue mission.
Rawat and his crew were declared winners by the IMO for the "determination and endurance" demonstrated while coordinating firefighting and damage control efforts to combat a fire that broke out after an anti-ship missile reportedly fired by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels struck their vessel 'Marlin Luanda' earlier this year (2024).
