World Theatre Day

World Theatre Day is celebrated every year on March 27. The day was first observed in 1969 by the International Theatre Institute. Since then, World Theatre Day is celebrated by people around the world with theatre events. This day is celebrated to promote theatre, the day increases the public understanding of the importance of all types of theatrical forms. Many plays are played on social issues, entertainment, and comedy. A theatre is an art form which educates, entertains, and inspires people.
The theme set by the International Theatre Institute for World Theatre Day 2023 was "Theatre and a Culture of Peace."

Purple Day of Epilepsy

Purple Day is a global event that is observed on March 26 to raise awareness about epilepsy and to eliminate common myths and fears related to this neurological disorder. The day also focuses on removing the social stigmas associated with the condition and encouraging people living with it to take action and spread awareness.
The concept of Purple Day was initiated by a nine-year-old Canadian named Cassidy Megan, and was motivated by her own struggle with epilepsy. The first Purple Day event was held on March 26, 2008, and is now known as the Purple Day for Epilepsy. The Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia joined Cassidy and helped to spread awareness of Cassidy's initiative.

International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members

The United Nations observes the International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members on March 25 every year. This is a day to mobilize action, demand justice and strengthen our resolve to protect UN staff and peacekeepers, as well as our colleagues in the non-governmental community and the press.
The International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members is marked each year on the anniversary of the abduction of Alec Collett, a former journalist who was working for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) when he was abducted by armed gunman in 1985. His body was finally found in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley in 2009.

Earth Hour 2023

Earth Hour is an annual event that takes place on the last Saturday of March. This year (2023), it was observed on March 25 at 8.30 pm local time, individuals, communities, and businesses around the world are being encouraged to turn off their lights for one hour and engage in activities that benefit the environment.
Earth Hour is an annual event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which encourages individuals, businesses, and governments to turn off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet. The event was first introduced in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 by WWF and its partners as a symbolic lights-out event to raise awareness about climate change.

International Day of the Unborn Child

International Day of the Unborn Child is observed on March 25.
The International Day of the Unborn Child is an annual commemoration of unborn fetuses, observed as a day of opposition to abortion, on March 25. It was established by Pope John Paul II to coincide with the Feast of the Annunciation.
This day was instituted in Argentina by Pope John Paul II to coincide with the Feast of the Annunciation. John Paul II viewed the day as a positive alternative in favour of life and the propagation of a culture of life to assure respect for human dignity in all situations. El Salvador was the first nation to recognise the 1993 establishment of the Day of the Right to Be Born.

World Tuberculosis Day

World Tuberculosis Day is observed on March 24 every year. The significance of World Tuberculosis Day is to educate the world about the impact of tuberculosis.
World Tuberculosis Day is observed to reflect on the progress made in the fight against the disease and to refocus on the commitment to eradicate the epidemic.
On March 24 1882, Dr. Robert Koch announced the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes tuberculosis. The discovery was the most critical step taken towards the control and elimination of tuberculosis. Officially, the first World Tuberculosis Day was first celebrated in 1982 on the 100th anniversary of Dr. Koch's announcement.
The theme for 2023 World Tuberculosis Day was "Yes! We can end TB!". The objective behind the theme is to inspire hope and encourage high-level leadership, faster adoption of new World Health Organisation recommendations, growth in investments, accelerated actions, adoption of innovations, and multisectoral collaboration to tackle tuberculosis.

World Meteorological Day

World Meteorological Day is observed every year on March 23 to commemorate the formal establishment of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) in 1950. The day highlights the essential role that 'National Meteorological and Hydrological Services' (NMHS) play in the safety and wellbeing of the society.
The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), an organization of the United Nations, was created on March 23, 1950 to replace the International Meteorological Organization. It began operations in 1951 to coordinate member nation in the fields of meteorology, operational hydrology, and Earth sciences for the security of their population. The first World Meteorological Day was held on March 23, 1961.
World Meteorological Day has a different theme each year and the theme for 2023 was 'The Future of Weather, Climate and Water across Generations.'

Martyrs' Day or Shaheed Diwas

Martyrs' Day or Shaheed Diwas is observed on several dates in India to remember the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country. March 23 is celebrated as Martyrs' Day to commemorate the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Shivram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar who were hanged to death by the Britishers.
Although this day is not a recognised holiday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared it as the gazetted holiday in the state.
Martyrs' Day is recognised nationally on January 30 to mark the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948, by Nathuram Godse.
