Sunil Kumar Jha New Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards
Senior IPS officer Sunil Kumar Jha, currently serving as Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was appointed as Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards. He is a 1993 batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre.
Jha will assume charge on July 1, succeeding incumbent DG Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, who retires on June 30.

Indian Army Participates in Exercise Khaan Quest 2025 in Mongolia (15)
A 40-member Indian Army contingent is in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, participating in the 22nd edition of Exercise Khaan Quest, a multinational peacekeeping military exercise being held from June 14 to 28. The exercise aims to boost interoperability and operational readiness among the participating nations' armed forces for peacekeeping missions under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

Indian and the UK Navies Conclude Exercise PASSEX 2025
The Indian Navy conducted a high-tempo Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the United Kingdom's Carrier Strike Group in the strategic North Arabian Sea.
The exercise, which concluded on June 10, featured Indian naval assets including the stealth frigate INS Tabar, a submarine, and the long-range maritime patrol aircraft P-8I. The UK's naval contingent included HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Richmond.
The exercise highlighted advanced operational coordination and interoperability between the two forces. With synchronised tactical manoeuvres and unified helicopter control operations, both navies demonstrated their readiness and high-end combat capabilities.
Army Successfully Tests Rudrastra
India took a significant leap in defence technology with the successful test of Rudrastra, an indigenous hybrid vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed by Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited.
The test was conducted at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer.
During the trial, Rudrastra demonstrated strong operational performance by covering a mission radius of over 50 km while maintaining a stable real-time video link, and successfully returning to its original launch point.

ICG Chairs 137th Meeting of the Offshore Security Coordination Committee
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) chaired the 137th meeting of the Offshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) in New Delhi. The meeting aimed to review the preparedness & effectiveness of the security of India's offshore installations and enhance joint response mechanisms. The committee further underscored the imperative of enhancing joint responses to safeguard vital energy infrastructure. A special emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination amongst agencies to address emerging challenges and ensure the security of offshore assets.
The OSCC was constituted in 1978 to ensure the effective functioning of offshore security arrangements. Since then, the committee has contributed effectively in framing policies and providing guidance and resolution to Offshore Defence Area related issues.
Reliance and Diehl Sign Defence Pact to Manufacture Vulcano Precision Ammunition in India
In a move that could reshape India's defence production landscape, Reliance Defence, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Germany's Diehl Defence. The partnership will focus on the local production of the Vulcano 155mm precision-guided munition system—an advanced artillery shell designed for long-range, high-accuracy strikes.
Reliance Defence will lead the manufacturing effort as the prime contractor, while Diehl Defence will provide the core technology and system-level expertise.

Denmark Approves US Military Bases on Danish Soil
Denmark's Parliament approved a bill to allow US military bases on Danish soil, a move came as President Donald Trump seeks to take control of the kingdom's semi-autonomous territory of Greenland.
The legislation widens a previous military agreement, made in 2023 with the Biden administration, where US troops had broad access to Danish airbases in the Scandinavian country.
India and the US Conclude Maiden Special Force Drill 'Tiger Claw'
Exercise Tiger Claw 2025, the first ever independent Special Forces exercise, between IAF and USAF, concluded at the Garud Regimental Training Centre. Conducted at various locations in North India, from May 26 to June 10, 2025, the exercise objectives included expanding partnership, mutual exchange of best practices in Special Operations, and joint training between the two Air Forces to develop interoperability.
Exercise Tiger Claw 2025 concluded at the GRTC situated at Air Force Station, Chandinagar, in Uttar Pradesh.
