Adani Defence Opens South Asia's Largest Ammunition, Missile Complex in UP
In a landmark achievement for India's defence sector, two mega facilities to make ammunition and missiles by Adani Defence & Aerospace, India's leading private sector defence manufacturer, were inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh.
These cutting-edge facilities, which are first of their kind in the private sector in India, will provide a significant boost to the nation's self-reliance and technological advancement in defence.
The facilities were inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande and GOC-in-C of Central Command Lt Gen N. S. Raja Subramani.
The unveiling of the facilities coincided with the fifth anniversary of the Balakot airstrike 'Operation Bandar', a historic operation by the Indian Air Force that was a testimony to India's strategic assertiveness over external threats.

India-Japan joint Exercise 'Dharma Guardian'
The fifth edition of the joint military exercise 'Dharma Guardian' between the Indian Army and the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces is being held at Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. The exercise will conclude on March 9.
'Dharma Guardian' is an annual exercise held alternately in India and Japan. The Japanese contingent is being represented by soldiers of the 34th Infantry Regiment, and the Indian Army contingent is being represented by a battalion of the Rajputana Rifles. Both sides have 40 military personnel each.
The objective of the exercise is to promote military cooperation and enhance joint capabilities to conduct joint operations in semi-urban environments under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate.

Trilateral Exercise 'Dosti-16'
Indian and Sri Lankan coast guard ships joined the Dosti 16 exercise held in the Maldives from February 22-25. This year (2024) marked a significant development with Bangladesh participating as an observer, indicating a widening scope for the exercise and underlining the growing importance of maritime collaboration in tackling evolving challenges.
Dosti exercise, which began in 1991 between India and Maldives, aims to enhance mutual operational capabilities and promote cooperation in maritime emergencies.
Sri Lanka's inclusion in 2012 broadened the exercise's focus, emphasising collaborative efforts in sea accident management, pollution control, and coast guard protocols.

Army to Set up New Corps for Operations Along LAC
The Army is converting its Headquarters Uttar Bharat (HQ UB) area into a full-fledged operational corps — a move that will shift its focus towards operations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) from its current responsibility of peacetime duties.
Based in Bareilly, the HQ UB area is currently a static formation looking after peacetime locations and training establishments of Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh, in addition to the LAC running along Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand — also referred to as the central theatre.
HAL, DRDO to Begin Rs. 60,000 Crore Sukhoi Fighter Jet Fleet Upgrade
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) supported by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), secured approval from the defence ministry for a major upgrade of the Su-30MKI fighter jet fleet.
This Rs. 60,000 crore project aims to bolster the aircraft's capabilities through the integration of new radars, mission control systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and weapon systems.

High Commission of India in Bangladesh hosted a Seminar on Indian Defence Equipment - SIDE 2024 in Dhaka.
High Commissioner Pranay Verma and Principal Staff Officer of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division, Lt. Gen. M.R. Shameem addressed the Seminar.
The High Commissioner described SIDE 2024 as a reflection of Indian defence industry's interest in partnering with Bangladesh and to taking India-Bangladesh defence cooperation forward to the next level, including by utilising the Defence Line of Credit of US$500 million extended by Government of India to Government of Bangladesh.
