National Archives of India Acquires Invaluable Collection of Shri Rafi Ahmad Kidwai
The National Archives of India (NAI) acquired a priceless collection of private papers and original correspondences belonging to the late Shri Rafi Ahmad Kidwai, a prominent figure in India's freedom struggle and nation-building efforts. This acquisition ensures the preservation of a significant part of our nation's history and the legacy of a remarkable leader.
The collection comprises original correspondences between Shri Kidwai and other eminent leaders, including Pandit Nehru, Sardar Patel, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and P.D. Tandon. These invaluable documents provide insights into the thoughts, strategies, and collaborative efforts of these leaders during the pivotal era of India's independence movement.
As the custodian of non-current records of the Government of India, the NAI holds these historical documents in trust for the benefit of administrators, researchers, and the general public, as per the provisions of the Public Record Act 1993. The acquisition of Shri Kidwai's private papers further enriches NAI's diverse collection of records from eminent Indians across various fields, who have made significant contributions to the nation.

Archaeologists Discover a Massive 7000-year-old pre-historic Settlement in Serbia
A prehistoric settlement of massive size was discovered in the Banat region of northeastern Serbia. Archaeologists date back the previously known settlement to some 7,000 years, much later than the Late Neolithic period.
This discovery is of outstanding importance, as hardly any larger Late Neolithic settlements are known in the Serbian Banat region.
The settlement is located near the Tamis River in the Banat region of northeastern Serbia, a landlocked country in the Balkans.

Paleontologists from Argentina revealed the unearthing of a novel medium-sized herbivorous dinosaur, Chakisaurus nekul, which thrived approximately 90 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period in present-day Patagonia. The finding sheds light on a remarkable creature known for its speed and unique tail anatomy.
Studies of Chakisaurus have unveiled an intriguing feature: its tail curved downward, a distinctive characteristic not observed in other dinosaurs. The name "Chakisaurus nekul" holds cultural significance, reflecting the indigenous heritage of the region. "Chaki" derives from the Aonikenk language, referring to an "old guanaco," a native herbivorous mammal, while "nekul" originates from the Mapudungún language, signifying "fast" or "agile."

Harappan Habitat Found Near Rakhigarhi Burial Site in Hisar District
In a major discovery, archaeologists found a habitat structure at the burial site at mound number seven in Rakhigarhi, an iconic Harappan site in Hisar district of Haryana.
As per reports, the mud brick walls of the habitat structure indicated that it could be a site of the early Harappan era dating back to 6000 BCE (about 8,000 years old).

Kashmir's Carpet Artisans Claim to Have Made Asia's Largest Hand-knotted Carpet
After Srinagar was designated among the most creative cities in the World, Kashmir's artisans are making sure to live up to the expectations of this title. In a village called Wayil in North Kashmir's Kralpora area, a team of Kashmiri artisans unveiled a masterpiece and it's been touted as Asia's largest handcrafted carpet.
This hand-knotted Kashmiri carpet is 72 feet by 40 feet, covering a vast area of 2,880 square feet. It took over 25 artisans around eight long years to complete this masterpiece. The whole carpet Industry of Kashmir valley takes pride in its creation. The intricate weaving of this exceptional carpet was overseen by two seasoned veterans of the craft, Fayaz Ahmed Shah and Abdul Gaffar Sheikh, whose unwavering dedication ensured the completion of this monumental piece despite various challenges.
