Government Introduces 'Jalvahak' for Waterway Connectivity
India's inland waterways sector received a significant boost with the unveiling of the 'Jalvahak' scheme by the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Shri Sarbananda Sonowal. Designed to promote long-haul cargo movement across National Waterways 1 (Ganga), 2 (Brahmaputra), and 16 (Barak), this initiative aims to transform waterways into a sustainable, efficient, and economical mode of transportation.
Alongside the launch of this scheme, fixed scheduled cargo services were inaugurated, marking a step toward enhancing logistics and decongesting road and rail networks.

Uttarakhand Aims to Become First State with a Dedicated Yoga Policy
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand is striving to become the first state in the country to implement a dedicated yoga policy. He emphasised that the policy will play a crucial role in integrating Ayurveda and Yoga into the healthcare sector.

Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak Bill Gets President Murmu's Assent
The bill that seeks to facilitate the designing and manufacturing of aircraft in India received assent from President Droupadi Murmu.
The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, which replaces the 90-year-old Aircraft Act, was cleared by the Parliament earlier this month.
An Act to provide for regulation and control of the design, manufacture, maintenance, possession, use, operation, sale, export and import of aircraft and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Kejriwal Promises $25 Monthly Aid for Women under 'Mahila Samman Yojana' if AAP Wins Delhi Election
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the 'Mahila Samman Yojana' was approved by the Delhi government. Under the scheme, which is aimed at women's empowerment, eligible women in the national capital will be granted a monthly financial aid of Rs. 1,000 ($12 approx.).
Kejriwal also said that while the current amount is set at Rs. 1,000 ($12 approx.), it will be increased to Rs. 2,100 ($25 approx.) if the AAP wins the upcoming Delhi assembly elections that are likely to be held in February next year. The present assembly's tenure will end on February 23, 2025.

Andhra Pradesh Launches The Urjaveer Scheme to Promote Energy Efficiency
Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched the AP Urjaveer Scheme to promote energy efficiency. The scheme trains 1,12,000 private electricians to handle energy-efficient appliances. A network of Urjaveer-trained workers will promote six appliances: LED inverter lamps, LED tubelights, BLDC ceiling fans, 5-star air conditioners, induction stoves, and LED bulbs. The initiative aims to make energy conservation a lifestyle at the grassroots level.
EESL and Andhra Pradesh will jointly run the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP) with the Women Development & Child Welfare Department.
