Army Signs Deals for 130 Tethered Drones and 19 Tank Driving Simulators

GSL and Kenya Shipyard Ltd Sign MoU for Collaboration in Shipbuilding

  • With its efforts to enhance security of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), especially on the eastern coast of Africa, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) and Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL) to strengthen maritime security cooperation between the two nations.
  • The agreement focuses on capacity building and collaboration in ship design and construction. The MoU was formalized in the presence of India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Defence Aden Bare Duale during their talks in New Delhi. This signing reflects the shared commitment of both nations to deepen their collaboration in maritime security.

Israel Begins Test Flights of 'Cutting-edge' Spy Aircraft

  • Israel's military started test-flying Oron, a Gulfstream G550-based reconnaissance aircraft equipped with intelligence systems.
  • As per the Defence Ministry, after integrating the intelligence systems into "the cutting-edge" Oron aircraft, the military has started test flights.
  • The aircraft will provide the Israeli military with "unprecedented intelligence capabilities across expansive terrain, enabling real-time monitoring of ground movements under diverse weather and visibility conditions.
  • Oron was delivered in 2021 by US-based Gulfstream Aerospace to the Israeli Air Force as a special-missions G550 variant for surveillance operations.

Indian Air Force Participates in Multilateral Tri-service Exercise in Egypt

  • In a significant move towards fostering global defence cooperation, an Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent is participating in Exercise Bright Star-23.
  • The IAF contingent is taking part in the biennial multilateral tri-service exercise at Cairo, Egypt (West) Air Base, which will culminate on September 16.
  • This marks the first participation of the IAF in Ex Bright Star-23, which also see the participation of air force contingents from the US, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Qatar.

4-day India-Australia Naval Exercise Concludes

  • The fifth edition of biennial AUSINDEX maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has ended at Sydney.
  • INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata participated in the exercise along with HMAS Choules and HMAS Brisbane from RAN. Besides ships and their integral helicopters, the exercise also witnessed participation of fighter aircraft and maritime patrol aircraft.
  • Held over four days, AUSINDEX included a series of complex exercises in all three domains of maritime operations.
