Babita Singh is New Global Peace Ambassador 2022

  • Babita Singh, a serial entrepreneur, was named a Global Peace Ambassador for her work in promoting peace through education, sports, art, culture, and diplomacy at the India International Conclave 2022, which was held in collaboration with the Asia Africa Consortium (AAC) in New Delhi.
  • Babita Singh has been awarded this honour because she is one of the very few people who have dedicated their lives to practises that promote Universal Moral Values, Interreligious cooperation, and International Harmony in accordance with the United Nations Human Rights Charter in order to improve the lives of billions of people around the world.
  • Babita is a global business professional who has worked in the hospitality, sports management, and cyber security industries for the past 20 years. Former Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki Dies

  • Kenya's former president, Mwai Kibaki, died at the age of 90. His 2002 election ended 40 years of one-party rule since independence. However, his 2007 re-election sparked months of nationwide violence and led to 1,200 deaths.
  • He was a sharp economist who set the country on a path of economic growth. He held a number of senior positions in treasury and government in his political career that spanned decades.
  • Many Kenyans are expressing a real sense of loss and regard Mr Kibaki as the best President Kenya has had since independence. Kenya declared a mourning period until Mr. Kibaki's burial, with flags flying at half-mast.

Former Meghalaya CM J.D. Rymbai No More

  • Meghalaya's former Chief Minister J.D. Rymbai, 83, died after a brief illness. The state government declared a three-day State mourning as a mark of respect for the veteran leader. During the period of State mourning, there will be no official entertainment and the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government establishments throughout the state.
  • Born to a poor family, Rymbai could not complete his graduation due to poverty. He took up a teaching and later obtained a graduate degree as well as a degree in education (B. Ed. - Bachelor of education). He also went on to become the headmaster of the school.
  • In 1993, he was elected the speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly. Since 1998, he has held charge of several ministries in the government. He was regarded as a loyalist of the 2003-2006 Chief Minister D.D. Lapang. After dissidence over Lapang's leadership in 2006, he replaced Lapang as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya in 2006 for a year.

AAP's Raghav Chadha, Ukrainian Minister Fedorov in World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders List

  • Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha, Edelweiss Mutual Fund CEO Radhika Gupta and Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov were named by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in its 2022 list of Young Global Leaders. Chadha, who was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha after AAP's massive victory in Punjab, was earlier his party's MLA in the national capital.
  • The WEF described the members of the list as "the world's most promising 109 Young Global Leaders under the age of 40, involved in activities from green energy and health equity to refugee rights and education reform.
  • The class of 2022 is gender-equal and has representatives from 42 countries. Members will take part in a three-year leadership development programme that will help them reach their next level of impact. The programme offers executive education courses, expeditions and opportunities to collaborate and test ideas with a trusted network of peers.

Karnataka Appoints Robin Uthappa as Brand Ambassador for Brain Health Initiative

  • The Karnataka State Government in association with NIMHANS and NITI Aayog launched the Karnataka Brain Health Initiative (Ka-BHI) in January. Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa was appointed as the brand ambassador for Karnataka- Brain Health Initiative (Ka-BHI) in April 2022. Training of doctors and preparations to start Brain Health Clinics in the three pilot hospitals has also commenced.
  • While training of doctors and preparations to start Brain Health Clinics in the three pilot hospitals – Jayanagar General hospital in Bengaluru Urban, SNR Hospital in Kolar and District Hospital in Chickballapur has begun.

Veteran Television Producer, Gol Maal Actor Manju Singh Passes Away

  • Veteran Hindi television presenter and actor Manju Singh passed away due to cardiac arrest. Manju Singh was one of the pioneers in the Indian television industry who produced remarkable shows Swaraj, Ek Kahani, Show Time among others. Fondly called 'didi', she was the anchor of the children's show, Khel Khilone which ran for seven years. Singh had also appeared in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Gol Maal, where she played the role of Ratna.
  • She started as a television producer in 1983 with Show Time. Her show Ek Kahani was based on literary short stories from several regional languages. In the recent past, Singh was associated with several international film festivals for children and young adults. In 2015, she received recognition for her contribution to the creative arts and the education field and was nominated as a member to the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) by the government of India.
