Narotam Sekhsaria's Autobiography "The Ambuja Story"

  • Former Vice Chairman/Founder/Promoter, Ambuja Cements Ltd, Narotam Sekhsaria authored his autobiography titled 'The Ambuja Story: How a Group of Ordinary Men Created an Extraordinary Company' which is set to be released in December 2021. The book features the story of his rise from a small-time cotton trader to setting up one of the largest cement companies in the country, Ambuja cement, one of India's finest companies.
  • The year was 1983. A cotton trader, still in his early thirties, began to dream big. His aspiration was to become an 'industrialist'. The venture he was about to embark on was uncharted territory for him. He knew nothing about cement, limestone or anything remotely associated with it. This book vividly captures that engaging story, the determination and perseverance that went into building one of India's finest companies.

Manish Tewari's "10 Flashpoints, 20 Years"

  • Former National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon backed Congress leader Manish Tewari's plea for parliamentary supervision of intelligence agencies.
  • Launching Tewari's book "10 Flashpoints, 20 years" on 10 national security situations that have impacted India in the past 20 years, Menon said, "With the exponential rise of security challenges over the past 20 years, India has built up a series of national security institutions. It now needs to be ascertained whether these are integrated and how institutions of national security have changed over the years.
  • In his book he has said that the UPA government headed by Manmohan Singh did not act strongly against Pakistan after the Mumbai terror attack. He said that such a restraint against Islamabad was perceived as a symbol of weakness.

Biography 'Naoroji Pioneer of Indian Nationalism' Wins NIF Book Prize

  • A biography of Dadabhai Naoroji, one of the founders of the Indian National Congress, by Dinyar Patel was named winner of the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize 2021.
  • "Naoroji: Pioneer of Indian Nationalism" was selected from the six shortlisted books that covered a variety of themes and subjects and showcased some of the finest non-fiction writing about India.
  • The other shortlisted books were: "The Death Script: Dreams and Delusions in Naxal Country" by Ashutosh Bhardwaj, "India's First Dictatorship: The Emergency, 1975-77" by Christophe Jaffrelot and Pratinav Anil, "Gandhi in the Gallery: The Art of Disobedience" by Sumathi Ramaswamy, "The Coolie's Great War: Indian Labour in a Global Conflict 1914-1921" by Radhika Singha and Vinay Sitapati's "Jugalbandi: The BJP Before Modi".

A Book on India-Pakistan War 1971 Released by MM Naravane

  • General MM Naravane released a book 'Bangladesh Liberation @ 50 years: 'Bijoy' with Synergy, India-Pakistan war 1971', a compilation of personal accounts of the war by veterans from India and Pakistan. The book is an amalgamation of historical and anecdotal accounts of the 1971 War and comprises authors from both India and Bangladesh. Mostly who fought the war.
  • The event was organized by the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) at the India International Centre (IIC), Delhi to commemorate 50 Years of India-Bangladesh Friendship as well as the decisive victory in India- Pakistan War 1971.
  • An award ceremony was also conducted. The 'Scholar Warrior Award' was awarded by the former COAS (Chief of Army Staff) of Bangladesh, Bir Protik to Brigadier Narender Kumar for his outstanding contribution as a warrior and in the field of research.

  • Former Army Officer Maroof Raza authored a new book titled "Contested Lands: India, China, and the Boundary Dispute". The book features the history of India's boundary making with Tibet and China and analyses the current India-China boundary contestation stemming from interpretations of history in the post-colonial period.
  • Maroof Raza's other books: Kashmir's Untold Story (co-authored with Iqbal Chand Malhotra), Shourya Gatha: Bharat Ke Veer Senani (co-authored with Lt. Col. Sheodan Singh),War Despatches 1971 (co-authored with Brig B.S. Mehta).
