Five Indian Students Selected for Rhodes Scholarship 2025
Five Rhodes Scholars-Elect for India 2025 have been selected after a competitive application process and two rounds of preliminary interviews. The shortlisted finalists were interviewed and five were chosen to receive the prestigious scholarship.
The five winners of this scholarship are Rayan Chakrabarti, Vibha Swaminathan, Avanish Vats, Shubham Narwal, and Pal Aggarwal.
The Rhodes Scholarship is the world's preeminent and oldest graduate fellowship, based at the University of Oxford since 1903. The scholarships for India began in 1947 and have been awarded to five applicants each year. Students from anywhere in the world can apply for a Rhodes Scholarship.

Centre Launches PAIR Programme to Enhance Research in Higher Education
The Centre launched the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) programme, designed to elevate research capabilities in higher education institutions (HEIs) across India with limited research capabilities by fostering collaborations with top-tier institutions.
This follows the operationalisation of the programme discussed at the inaugural governing board meeting of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September this year (2024).
The programme will operate through a mentorship-driven hub-and-spoke framework to facilitate systematic research growth across institutions.
In a move to enhance educational opportunities, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) partnered to provide students with access to shared academic resources, research internships, and summer immersion programs.
The initiative is designed to leverage the strengths of both institutes, enriching the learning experiences of students in IIT Madras's Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Data Science and Applications and IIT Palakkad's undergraduate courses.
Through this collaboration, IITM BS (Data Science and Applications) students who meet the eligibility criteria can fulfil their credit requirements by taking courses at IIT Palakkad. Additionally, the MoU also allows undergraduate students at IIT Palakkad to enroll in courses on Data Science and Programming from the IITM BS programme. The collaboration will also facilitate student exchange programmes, internship opportunities, and other joint initiatives.

UGC Hosts Southern Zone Meet on NEP 2020 Implementation for Autonomous Colleges
The University Grants Commission (UGC) organised a Southern Zone Conference for Autonomous Colleges on 'Implementation of NEP 2020' at IIT Madras. The conference witnessed the participation of academics from many institutions who discussed the various aspects of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
NEP 2020 was launched in July 2020. All-out efforts are being made to disseminate the details about the policy among various stakeholders and to ensure its implementation by the Higher Educational Institutions.
This conference included sessions for academics on topics such as 'Thematic brainstorming by participants on implementation strategies for NEP 2020 participants' on National Credit Framework Implementation, Academic Bank of Credits, Digital Empowerment and Research and Innovation Ecosystem, among other topics.
Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir Opens in Silvassa, Inaugurated by President
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir School at Zanda Chowk in Silvassa.
During the inauguration she interacted with students and engaged in games and reciting poems with them.
