Maharashtra partners with global universities to bring world-class knowledge to the state

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the state has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading international universities, including MIT and the University of California, Berkeley, to explore new ways to strengthen technology, governance systems, and problem-solving capabilities. Nagaland University researchers unveil eco-friendly corrosion shield

Researchers from Nagaland University and University of Science and Technology Beijing shown carbon quantum dots derived from discarded apple leaves can protect metals against corrosion in acidic environments. The apple‑leaf carbon quantum dots demonstrated inhibition efficiencies around 94–96% over extended exposure. This eco-friendly approach could replace toxic traditional inhibitors in infrastructure and manufacturing. Led by Prof Ambrish Singh and Prof Yujie Qiang, the study highlights a sustainable path for industrial corrosion protection, with potential applications across multiple sectors, reducing environmental impact while extending the lifespan of metal structures and components.

Indo US Doctors Meet in Hyderabad to Strengthen Healthcare Collaboration

Indian Navy Medical Camp Delivers Free Care in Lakshadweep

From 12 to 16 January, the Indian Navy conducted a five day Joint Services Multi Speciality Medical Camp across Lakshadweep including Kavaratti, Agatti, Amini, Androth and Minicoy. A total of 4,719 patients received specialist and super specialist consultations. The team provided neurology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, medicine, surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology, dental surgery, radiology and community medicine services. The campaign performed 51 general surgical procedures, 71 cataract surgeries, more than 50 endoscopic procedures, over 50 echocardiograms and 250 ultrasound studies. All care and medicines were free. Two ECG machines were donated to local facilities.

Gujarat Amends Textile Policy to Boost Women SHGs

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel approved amendments to Gujarat Textile Policy 2024 to empower women Self Help Groups and expand benefits to non polluting textile units in urban and rural areas. The policy now covers women led SHGs registered under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, the National Urban Livelihood Mission, or operating as voluntary SHGs. The changes aim to boost livelihoods, improve income for women, and integrate SHGs into the textile value chain. Officials expect stronger market access and industry partnerships to scale programs and strengthen the MSME ecosystem and inclusive growth.

Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima launched for CGHS beneficiaries

The Department of Financial Services unveiled the Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries. The policy provides cashless inpatient care and access to a wide hospital network, with sum insured options of Rs 10 lakh or Rs 20 lakh. A co-payment component allows cost-sharing between insurers and subscribers (70:30 or 50:50). The retail product will be offered through New India Assurance Company and its online platform, without GST to keep costs affordable for CGHS beneficiaries, and is available to CGHS members up to six people per policy. The measure aims to improve health security and accessibility.

81 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs inaugurated in Delhi; total rises to 319

The AAM network is part of a broader push to expand access to healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat scheme at the community level. Officials noted the rapid build-out within 11 months, reflecting the government’s commitment to accessibility, affordability, and preventive care for city residents.
