Red Planet Day

Commemorating the day one of the most significant space missions to Mars was launched, November 28 is observed as Red Planet Day. On this day in 1964, the United States launched the space probe Mariner 4 on a course towards Mars, which it flew past in July 1965, sending back pictures of the red planet.
This was the first time that a spacecraft undertook the first flyby of the red planet, becoming the first-ever spacecraft to take close-up photographs of another planet.

Constitution Day of India

Constitution Day, also known as National Law Day, is celebrated in India every year on November 26 to remember the day the Constitution of India was adopted. This event took place on November 26, 1949, and the Constitution officially came in action on January 26, 1950.
The Indian government declared November 26 as Constitution Day in 2015. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made this announcement on October 11, 2015, while inaugurating the B. R. Ambedkar's Statue of Equality memorial in Mumbai.

National Milk Day

Every year, National Milk Day is celebrated on November 26.
National Milk Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the architect of India's White Revolution.
In 2014, The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), and 22 state-level milk federations decided to celebrate National Milk Day on the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien. Hence, the special day is celebrated on November 26 every year.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed worldwide on November 25 each year, as designated by the United Nations General Assembly. The day aims to create awareness that women are victims of various forms of violence, including domestic violence and rape.
Since 1981, women's rights activists have marked 25 November as a day against gender-based violence, paying homage to the Mirabal sisters—three Dominican political activists brutally murdered in 1960 by order of the country's ruler, Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961). In a significant stride towards combating violence against women, the General Assembly, on December 20, 1993, adopted the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women (resolution 48/104), laying the groundwork for global efforts to eradicate such violence.
A crucial development occurred on February 7, 2000, as the General Assembly, through resolution 54/134, officially designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
This year's (2023) theme, 'UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls', emphasises the need to fund prevention strategies proactively to stop gender-based violence.

World HeJackge Week 2023, Celebrates From November 19 to 25

Every year, from November 19 to 25, the world comes together to celebrate World Heritage Week 2023, a global festival dedicated to promoting the conservation of cultural and historical treasures. Recognised and championed by UNESCO, this week serves as a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility to safeguard the world's most significant sites for the benefit of present and future generations.
Founded in 1945, World Heritage Week was established to foster intellectual and moral solidarity in the aftermath of two devastating world wars. It was envisioned as a means to contribute to lasting global peace. Over the years, the week has evolved into a celebration that goes beyond festivities, actively urging people, communities, governments and individuals to participate in the preservation of invaluable heritage sites.

Lachit Diwas

Lachit Diwas (Lachit Day) is a regional public holiday in the Indian state of Assam, observed on November 24 each year.
On this holiday, the Assamese government celebrates the birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom army General Lachit Borphukan.
In the 17th century, the Mughal Empire was dominant across large swathes of the Indian subcontinent. Stretching from the Deccan plateau in South India to Afghanistan and Kashmir in the north, the empire also had designs on Assam which was part of the Ahom Kingdom.
Chao Lachit was an army general (Borphukan) from Assam who fought relentlessly to curb the expansion of the Mughal Empire in Assam and had reversed Mughal territorial gains in the region.
Lachit was the commander at the Battle of Saraighat which was fought in 1671 between the Mughals and the Ahom Kingdom on the Brahmaputra river at Saraighat, now in Guwahati.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November. This year (2023), Thanksgiving will be celebrated on November 23.
Thanksgiving in the early days of America was celebrated on various dates, and eventually, Abraham Lincoln, in 1863, with help from Sarah Josepha Hale, decided Thanksgiving should be on the final Thursday in November. Later, Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the day into law, officially celebrating the day on the fourth Thursday of November.
