Padma Awardee Farmer who Turned Barren Land into Heavenly Orchard

Amai Mahalinga Naik, an innovative farmer from Karnataka's Adyanadka village in Dakshina Kannada, was conferred with the Padma Shri award 2022 for transforming a barren sloping hill into a fertile farm.
Using the innovative Zero-Energy Micro-Irrigation System, Naik turned a barren plot of land into an oasis comprising Arecanut Palms, Coconut Trees, Cashew Trees, Banana Saplings, and Pepper Vines.

Games24x7 Ropes in Hrithik Roshan as Brand Ambassador of RummyCircle

Games24x7, an online gaming company, appointed Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan as the brand ambassador for RummyCircle. As part of the partnership, Hrithik will be seen in multimedia campaigns by RummyCircle, spanning across TV, digital and social media platforms.
Initiating the association, the brand unveiled the new campaign #RahoEkKadamAage starring Hrithik via a television commercial. The campaign highlights real-life scenarios where Hrithik Roshan demonstrates mental dexterity to find a way out of unforeseen situations.

Former Tripura Assembly Speaker R. C. Debnath Passes Away

Veteran CPI(M) leader and former speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Ramendra Chandra Debnath died in Kolkata. He was 66.
Debnath was the sitting MLA of Yubarajnagar assembly constituency. He won the seat for the first time in 1993 and won it for six times.
He was the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly for three terms.

Renowned social worker and Padma Shri awardee Baba Iqbal Singh Passes Away

Renowned social worker and Padma Shri awardee Baba Iqbal Singh, in-charge of Kalgidhar Trust, died at the age of 96 years.
He had started his journey of service towards humanity following the footsteps of his mentor Sant Attar Singh Maharaj. He was also conferred with Shiromani Pant Rattan award.
Baba Iqbal Singh worked relentlessly towards imparting value-based education in rural India.
As a social worker, Baba Iqbal Singh didn't restrict himself just to the education sector, he was involved in every facet of community life ie. schools, hospital, colleges, women care centre and de-addiction centres. With his team, he set up Akal Charitable Hospital at Baru Sahib, Sirmaur, which provides medical care to rural poor and other deprived sections of society. Every year, medical camps are organised in which doctors from Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab provide free medical care including free surgeries to poor people.

Additional Solicitor General Rupinder Singh Suri Passes Away

Senior advocate and Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Rupinder Singh Suri died.
Suri was appointed the ASG in June 2020.
Suri was designated as senior advocate in 2009 and also served as the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association.
He served as standing counsel in the Supreme Court for Punjab for about 15 years.

Marathi Author, Activist Anil Awachat Passes Away

Marathi author and social activist Anil Awachat, better known as Baba, passed away. He was 78. Awachat was the founder-director of the Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre in Pune and associated with several social causes.
The centre was set up in 1986 to treat addiction and included a combination of medicine, therapies and activities.
Known for his books including Purnia, Awachat regularly wrote for Marathi magazines and other publications. He also had a stint as a journalist and was known for his reportage.

Charanjit Singh, Legendary Indian Hockey Player, Dies

Captain of India's 1964 Tokyo Olympics gold medal-winning hockey team, Charanjit Singh, died in Una, Himachal Pradesh. He was 90.
Besides captaining the Olympic gold-winning team in 1964, he was also a part of the silver-winning side in the 1960 edition of the Games. He was also a part of the 1962 Asian Games silver-winning team.
