Meghalaya CM Releases Rs. 130-crore Scholarship for 70,000 Students

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced the release of the second and final instalment of the Umbrella Post Matric Scholarship, amounting to Rs. 130 crore, for nearly 70,000 students for the 2024-25 academic year.
The event took place at the district auditorium and was attended by Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui, Commissioner and Secretary of Education Vijay Kumar Mantri, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, and Director of Higher and Technical Education Hazel D. B. Sangma.

The 9th Dubai Fitness Challenge Concludes

The ninth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) concluded with the successful staging of Dubai Yoga 2025, a large-scale community yoga session held at Zabeel Park in the shadow of the Dubai Frame. Initiated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai , the Dubai Fitness Challenge ran from November 1 to 30, 2025 under the directive to encourage residents and visitors to engage in 30 minutes of physical activity daily for 30 consecutive days.

IIM Mumbai Launches Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy, Admissions Based on CAT, GMAT, GRE, IM...

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai launched a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy Management (PGDPPM) programme, developed in partnership with the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India. The programme is being offered in collaboration with Talentsprint, part of Accenture, which supports the digital learning and delivery framework.
The initiative is structured as a one-year, 45-credit diploma intended for mid-career professionals working across government, corporate, and social sectors.

ICAI Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Career Advice Programme in a Single Day

In a historic moment for educational outreach in India, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) achieved a Guinness World Record for conducting the largest career advice session in a single day. The event, held in Mumbai in November 2025, saw participation from more than 7,400 students, teachers, and principals, with 6,166 students officially counted under Guinness World Records criteria.
This monumental effort was part of ICAI's flagship initiative CAFY 4.0 (Career in Accounting and Finance for Youth) and the Super Mega Career Counselling Programme, aimed at helping young minds make informed career choices in an evolving professional landscape.

IIT Bombay Renaming: Maharashtra to Approach Centre to Seek IIT Mumbai Name

The Maharashtra government will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union education ministry seeking to change the name of IIT Bombay to IIT Mumbai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said.
The announcement came amid a political controversy sparked by Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh's remark on the nomenclature of the premier institute.

Odisha Launches New Scholarship Scheme for SC, ST Students to Study Abroad

The Odisha government launched a new overseas scholarship programme aimed at supporting Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students who wish to pursue postgraduate and doctoral studies in top global institutions.
The scheme, named 'Videsh Siksha Bruti', marks one of the state's most significant initiatives to expand higher education opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj formally inaugurated the scheme and announced that it will be implemented from the 2025 to 2026 academic year.
Suraj said that students belonging to SC and ST categories with an annual family income of Rs. 12 lakh or below will be eligible to apply.
To qualify, applicants must have secured admission to postgraduate or PhD programmes at institutions ranked within the Top 200 in the QS World University Rankings.
Under the new scheme, each selected student will receive financial assistance of up to Rs. 25 lakh per year. This will support tuition fees, living expenses and other academic costs during their studies abroad.

Centre Announces Revised Guidelines for SC students under 'Top Class Scholarship Scheme' for 2024-25

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment released updated guidelines for the 'Top Class Scholarship Scheme for SC Students', expanding financial support and tightening institutional accountability for the 2024–25 academic year.
The scheme aims to promote quality higher education for Scheduled Caste students by covering full tuition fees and providing academic allowances across India's premier institutions.
Under the revised financial norms, the Centre will directly transfer full tuition fees and non-refundable charges to students through DBT, capped at Rs. 2 lakh per year for private institutions.
Students will also receive an academic allowance of Rs. 86,000 in the first year and Rs 41,000 in subsequent years to cover living expenses, books and laptops. Beneficiaries will be barred from availing similar scholarships from other Central or State schemes.
